Publication A Contextual Approach On The Concept Of Sami'a In The Hadith Text Of Sahih Al-Bukhariyy(Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, 2019-02)Juliyana JunaidiHadith understanding is one of the crucial aspects in appreciating the sunnah of Prophet Muhammad PBUH. As the second most reliable source after al-Quran, hadith requires a special attention in its interpretation. Prominent Muslin1 scholars have already highlighted the significance of hadith understanding as well as expounding its approaches. Among the principles of comprehending hadith is understanding in a contextual method. However, the contextual approach of hadith understanding can only be utilized in Hadith al-Mutaghayyirat amd not applicable to Hadith al-Thawabit. In addition, books of hadith comilation offer different concepts based on the methods used by the hadith compiler.However, it does not have higher level of concepts that cover the classifications. This study aims to investigate existing approaches of hadith understanding and to propose an enhancement in the methods of hadith understanding. Besides, it also aims to propose concepts based on contextual understanding of hadith. This study used qualitative method through document analysis in the data collection process and thematic analysis in the data analysis. The matan of Hadith WQawli containing the words sami’a from Sahih al-Bukhariyy will be analysed based on several commentary books of hadith and other supporting sources. The aspects of 5W1H which involve What, Who, Where, Why, When and How were suggested to understand hadith in a contextual way. Besides, concepts on hadith were developed based on the proposed classifications of the hadith according to its contextual understanding. Results indicate that the aspects of 5W1H could be applied as a contextual approach in hadith understanding. Apart from that, Hadith Qawli with words sami’a in Sahih al-Bukhariyy could be generalized into two major concepts which are the concept of Belief and Shari’ah. Past studies have shown that exposure to various teaching models and techniques may assist in enhancing students’ interest in learning that results in them excelling their education. Nonetheless, such exposure is not much emphasized by TIe. In addition, educators are also facing with problems in producing effective instruction due to the reason that they do not fully understand their students’ interest and learning style. Teachers’ failure in identifying appropriate learning style will result in students’ becoming disinterested in learning. In order to obtain an effectiveness of the teaching and learning process at the optimal level, TIe must identify students’ learning styles as well as using an appropriate strategy. One of the teaching techniques that teachers can employ is the audio and visual technique. Studies have shown that teachers' self-efficacy (SE) beliefs were examined as determinants of their job satisfaction and students' academic achievement. In addition, studies also found that teaching strategies and techniques is one of the prominent factors that led to high SE of a teacher. Precisely, this study will: 1) identify the using of audio (hearing) and visual (sight) for Excellent Teachers of Islamic Education (ETIe) in teaching subject Ibadah and 2) to analyse the effects of using audio (hearing) and visual (sight) techniques towards the SE of ETIe. This study used a qualitative approach while interview and observation are as the main instruments. This study has also seen to have implications for the policy and practice of teaching among Teachers of Islamic Education TIe. Publication Revisiting Scholars' Principles On Extracting Proper Hadith Understanding(Global Academic Excellence, 2018) ;Ikmal Hafiz Jamal ;Juliyana Junaidi ;Norzulaili Mohd GhazaliHishomudin AhmadHadith understanding refers to the process of interpreting Islamic teaching that could be derived from the text of hadith. It is known to be a challenging part in the study of hadith. Thus, hadith scholars have paid their attention to provide a guideline by introducing principles in hadith understanding. However, the researcher found that there are scattered principles introduced by different scholars. Therefore, this research is conducted to revisit all the principles in hadith understanding introduced by the previous scholars and propose general theme representing all the principles. This research is a qualitative research that is conducted by applying inductive thematic approach using document analysis instrument. The result obtained that there are about 29 principles introduced by the scholars in hadith understanding. The listed principles have been analysed to identify general theme representing all the principles. Based on the analysis, the researcher found that the principles could be categorised into six general themes namely theme of (1) possessing Arabic language proficiency, (2) hadith understanding based on other sacred sources, (3) mastering jurisprudence of hadith (cul?m al-?ad?th), (4) comprehending jurisprudence (fiqh) and its sciences, (5) having knowledge on the history of Islam, and (6) being moderate in interpreting hadith. Publication The Role Of Quran And Sunnah In Solving Leadership Failure(USIM Press, 2022) ;Juliyana Junaidi ;Latifah Abdul MajidMohd Arif NazriSocial injustice issues that are skyrocketing in recent times have garnered attention from various parties. One of the issues includes leadership failure, which has caused an immense impact on the social structure. Strong leadership is essential in shaping society as it affects the growth of civilization. Unfortunately, the role of the Quran and Sunnah in guiding the leadership path has been abandoned by the leaders hence resulting in its crisis. Even though many scholars have provided the discussions of leadership’s crisis solutions, most of them are secular in essence due to the roles of revelations that have been continuously ignored and seen as irrelevant in the postmodern era. Therefore, this qualitative study aims to provide solutions to leadership failure through the exploration of the Quran and Sunnah. This study utilises the content analysis method to collect data whereby it combines descriptive and analytical approaches. First, the indicators of leadership incompetence are identified. Next, the solutions to these issues are analysed based on the Quran and Prophetic Sunnah. The result demonstrates that the Quran and Sunnah provide the best solution in solving leadership failure. Moreover, the divine revelations provide guidance to be a good leader for society so that a strong community will be built. The article unfolds five solutions, namely self-assessment before becoming a leader, selection of a strong and highly moral/ virtuous individual as a leader, fair distribution of wealth and opportunities, implementation of a just retribution system, and providing equal rights to different levels of people. Hence, the study is significant in emphasising the roles of revelation that should not be abandoned due to the timeless characteristics of the Quran and Sunnah. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication Social Justice From The Quranic Perspective: A Qualitative Study(Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, 2021-10-06) ;Juliyana Junaidi ;Latifah Abdul MajidMohd Arif NazriSocial justice is an ideal, ongoing struggle, that unites numerous people to attain it despite many obstacles. It is pivotal to be applied in various dimensions of life and involves the roles of many. Discussions of social justice, in general, are commonly circulated around equality, fairness, freedom, and solidarity. However, most discussions on social justice emphasize the interaction among mankind without placing the role of the divine source, the Quran as guidance. The role of the Quran as the words of Allah should not be abandoned as He is the Creator who acknowledges everything about his creations. Besides, the application of social justice in the western perspective keeps changing depending on the condition of the society. This article aims to explore the principles of social justice embedded in Quranic verses by extracting and analysing the verses based on the books of Quranic commentary (tafsir). This study is qualitative in nature, utilizing content analysis as a tool, which involved describing, analysing, and synthesizing the words, themes and concepts present in the data. The results demonstrated that the principles of social justice are extensively discussed in the Quran, composing of honourable dignity of human beings, human’s equality, liberty of humans, fair distribution of wealth and opportunities and respecting human rights.
