Publication A Comparative analysis of Southern movement Crisis in Yemeni newspapers(University of Malaya, 2013) ;Fatima Mohamed Al-Majdhoub ;Azizah HamzahMohd Yahya Mohamed AriffinThe stand of the Yemeni government and its failure to address the consequences of the 1994 Yemeni civil war in the south parts for many years made strongly the fractions of the southern movement/ Al-Harak Al-Janubbiy to call for secession and to restore the former South of Yemen, and moved from peaceful means to the armed struggle. By using framing as the theoretical framework of this study, the content of Yemeni newspapers was analyzed as the research method. Four newspapers were selected, one official, two opposition, and one independent newspaper. The four papers represented different political orientations. Conflict made the most prominent frame across the four newspapers in reporting on the southern movement. The representation of the southern cause expressed the future of the Yemeni national unity by putting it in either frame changing the political system or getting back to zero point when each part may retain its former state. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication Correlation Between Defense Mechanisms And Readiness To Change Among Relapsing Addicts(Malaysian Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities (MJSSH), 2018) ;Farhana Sabri ;Zahidah MustafaMohd Yahya Mohamed AriffinThe number of relapsing addicts is increasingly worrying from year to year. This study was conducted to examine at the relationship between defense mechanisms and the level of readiness to change in relapsing addicts. Although the drug addicts have been treated at the treatment center, however, repeated cases of drug addicts still occur. Six research questions were developed to see how far the variables consisting of defense mechanisms could correlate with readiness to change among addicts who were undergoing treatment. This study was carried out involving 125 addicts in two separate treatment centers in Melaka and Selangor. The selected sample were addicts who have undergone a relapse phase at least once in drug addiction. Statistical data analysis using Statistical Packages for Social Sciences 20 (SPSS-20) were used to analyze the data. Statistical descriptive is used to view the results of demographic data constructed. T-test and ANOVA are used to see the relationship between the variables. The regression analysis is used to predict the defense mechanisms with the stage of readiness to change among relapsing addicts. The results showed that the defense mechanism had a significant relationship to the stage of readiness to change among samples. The results of this study provide information on treatment services in the drug rehabilitation to improve the treatment method appropriately to the drug addicts in preventing relapse. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Rahman ;Hutkemri ZulnaidiAndries LionardoYouth life depends on diversity of urban socio-ecological support in their environment to achieve a healthy life. Thus, the study aims to determine the level of diversity of urban social ecological support among multiethnic youth in urban areas. This study used stratified random sampling involving 2400 multi-ethnic youths living in six Kuala Lumpur City zones. Data were obtained using questionnaire as research instrument. A pilot study that was conducted on 203 youths showed that all items had high reliability with a Cronbach Alpha value of 0.8 and were suitable to be used in the actual study. The study data were analyzed using descriptive analysis involving mean, standard deviation and percentages. The findings show that the overall level of social support for youth survival in Kuala Lumpur are at a high level (mean 3.821). In term of the majority, 65.4% of the respondents indicated that social ecology support was high, while 33.6% stated social support was moderate and only 1.0% indicated low social ecological support level. Among the aspects studied in social support are family support, virtual platform support and local community support while the level of institutional support is moderate. Results from this study may help in giving the input to various parties such as the Local Council, the Ministry of Youth and related NGOs in making plans either physically or socio-economically which will affect the youth development in the city. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication Exploring Practice and Engagement of Instagram by Malaysia Ministries During Covid-19(UKM press, 2022) ;Muhamad Zaki MustafaMohd Yahya Mohamed AriffinThe rapid diffusion of social media applications is ushering in new possibilities for non-profit organisations to communicate with and engage the public. Social media can be a means of participation and engagement. In particular, it involves the delivery of information through social media that is directed to encourage public participation and engagement by providing comments, responses, and input to government agencies. Instagram, a mobile photo (and video) capturing and sharing service, has quickly emerged as a new medium in the spotlight in recent years. In this study, the researchers analysed the level of citizen engagement with Malaysia government ministries practices and calculated the engagement rate of each ministry on Instagram. This research was conducted for a period of one year which is from 1st January until 31st December 2020 through the formula of the Engagement Rate measurement. The data showed 21 accounts from 27 ministry Instagram accounts received a low Engagement Rate quality, which means 77.78% of ministry Instagram accounts had not been able to optimise their Instagram accounts to get engagement from their followers. Moreover, Engagement Rate is a very important measure for knowing Instagram optimisation. Communication is the dynamic connection among top management, co-workers and employees. The practice of media relations on the other hand is important and necessitated by an editor practitioner of a media organisation to get information from the organisation but at the same time must be managed by experienced, skilled and professional public relations practitioner. In order to put that into realisation, it is crucial for public relations practitioner to build an effective relationship with media organisation editors. This article focuses on the importance of delivery method of media relations resources from the media organisation editor's perspective in Malaysia. The method of in-depth interview was implemented to analyse the opinions of all editors from media organisations on the practice of delivering resources to them. A number of 10 print and electronic media organisation editors were interviewed for data collection purpose. Analyses showed that all media organisation editors agreed that the practice of media relations in this country along with the suggestions are crucial in the effort to help increase the effectiveness of dissemination in this country. All the editors gave positive opinions on delivert method of resources to media organisations. The variety of social media in it can be one of the best references for publishing various information. The internet as a public space that can be accessed by many people requires accurate and unique information. Majlis Bandaraya Seremban (MBS) has its local content style. At the same time the Bandung city government; through the Regional Work Unit (SKPD)) chose to apply a unique local content using Sundanese and Sundanese idioms in the Instagram account to convey information. A variety of information and work programs are campaigned and can be well-accepted by the public. This research uses the descriptive method to describe and analyze Instagram account management, information selection. This research consideration of using local content and its impact on the city of Seremban and Bandung. The subjects of this study are the staff and leaders of Majlis Bandaraya Seremban and Bandung Regional Government Work Unit (SKPD), especially those who handle the Instagram accounts. Communication messages related to the current situation in Seremban and Bandung can be conveyed more quickly, and well-understood by people in Seremban Bandung and everyone should do it, especially the Majlis Bandaraya Seremban, and Bandung City Government as a source of information. Being smart in using digital media, thus, is the key to the success of public communication strategy applied by Majlis Bandaraya Seremban and Bandung Government to the citizens of Seremban and Bandung in the hope that there will be good communication between them; communication that supports each other, reciprocity, and mutual benefit. Publication Managers And Employees Perception Of Communication Channels Based On Organization's Culture Awareness Competency In Selected In Selected Industries In Rwanda(Disc International, 2017) ;Maniraho MuhamediMohd Yahya Mohamed AriffinAs has been developed communication technology from tradition to new communication channels that support organizational communication became more affective on the field, the question of how managers and employees are perceived richness communication channels. This study aims to examine most used communication channels among seven communication channels namely: face-to-face, addressed document, mobile telephone, fixed line telephone, SMS, E-mails, and Facebook based on organization’s culture awareness competency. The findings showed that most used communication channel was addressed documents; telephones (landline and mobile) are also favored. However, other means of communication (E-mails, face-to-face, SMS and Facebook) as well are useful but in different level of useful. The results also showed that there is negative relationship between the organization’s culture awareness competency and the level of effectiveness of communication channels. Publication Online Newspaper in Malaysia: A Preliminary Study(University of Malaya, 2009) ;Mohd Yahya Mohamed AriffinNoor Ismawati JaafarWith the emergence and advances of the Internet technology, the traditional media such as newspapers have to reassess their role in the Internet age. Not only newspapers have to compete with each other locally, but also with foreign newspapers from all over the world and other information providers choosing to deliver news on their websites. This paper presents the findings of an initial study on the changing trends of newspaper distribution in Malaysia. It examines the trends and outlook of selected traditional and online newspapers using data from various secondary resources from the years 2001-2007. The study also looked at some of the possible challenges facing online newspaper by conducting an interview with the Editor, Online Services from Utusan Melayu (M) Bhd. From the study, it was found that the availability of online newspaper does not affect the readership of print newspaper although there is a declining trend. What can be concluded is that online newspaper does not substitute the role of print newspaper. In fact newspaper companies that have their news on the Internet are seen as providing an added value to their readers especially when it comes to accessing news away from work places. Publication Pendapat Publik Mengenai Peranan Media dalam Menangani Jenayah(University of Malaya, 2006)Mohd Yahya Mohamed AriffinThis study aims to determine public’s view of the role of mass media in exposing snatch-theft crime in Kuala Lumpur. Apart from that, this study also surveys public perception of the role of mass media in helping the Malaysian police force, Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM), in reducing snatch-theft. A total of 390 female respondents in Kuala Lumpur were randomly chosen as a study sample. Questionnaires were given to them to obtain data for the study. Results obtained reveal that the mass media was important for women of Kuala Lumpur to obtain news on snatch-theft. Majority of them felt that news reports in the mass media were true. The respondents strongly agreed that coverage by the mass media on snatch-theft helped make them aware of the crime. The research findings has shown that Utusan Malaysia (UM) and New Straits Times (NST) hasbeen using news materials and photographs from the international primary news agencies to be printed in theirnewspapers. Both newspapers have different tendency in using those news materials and photographs from thoseinternational news agencies. The findings revealed that most used communication channel was e-mail followed by addressed documents, face-to-face, land line telephone, mobile telephone, SMS and Facebook. This study explores public relations, social media, Islamic work ethics and new media usage trends among public relations units of ministries in Malaysia. The results of the study use content analysis method on the Ministry of Malaysia's Followers Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts in October 2019. The results show three Ministries with the most followers are the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Domestic Affair and Ministry of Youth and Sports.
