Publication Awareness on Smoking Behaviour Among Students in Faculty of Quranic and Sunnah Studies, Islamic Science University of Malaysia (USIM)(Malaysian Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities, 2019) ;Zainora Daud ;Muhammad Arif MusaSiti Nor Azirah Mohd RiduanResearch has shown that smoking has bad implications on smokers and society as a whole. For that matter, the Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOHM) have taken various initiatives through information technology and social media to educate the public and students about the negative effects of smoking. The objective of this study is to identify the level of awareness among students on factors which lead to smoking behaviour and the negative effects it has on society. This study was conducted on 228 students at the Faculty of Quranic and Sunnah Studies, Islamic Science University of Malaysia. The research is quantitative in nature using questionnaire method. The quantitative data were then analysed descriptively in Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) to obtain the frequency and percentage. The finding of the study shows that the level of students’ awareness on factors leading to smoking habit is at a satisfactory level. The students are aware that peers are the main contributing factor towards smoking habit. The level of awareness on the harmful effects of smoking is also at a satisfactory level. The students’ awareness is influenced by their field of study which is Islamic studies as well as their modest purchasing power considering their average family income range from RM1000 to RM3000. The conclusion of the study is the importance to educate students on the harmful effects of smoking, as well as to maintain the level of awareness among them. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication Cabaran dan Kekangan dalam Pengajian Tahfiz Separuh Masa(USIM Press, 2021) ;Zainora DaudMuhammad Arif MusaIn current times, tahfiz education is growing employing several methods of study; full-time and part-time which are delivered through various multidisciplinary combination of knowledge to fulfil the aspirations of Muslims. Although part-time tahfiz educations are gaining ground among the community, there are various challenges towards maintaining the quality of memorization and the students’ interest. Therefore, the objective of this research is to identify and analyze the challenges and limitations in part-time tahfiz education. This research is a qualitative study through thematic analysis using interview. The respondents of the study consisted of teachers and students aged between 9 to 64 years old. Justification of selection is due to their involvement in part-time tahfiz education. The results of the study show that there are challenges and limitations in part-time tahfiz education in the form of career obligation, family, study time, quantity and quality of student’s memorization, students’ discipline, and surrounding conditions. In conclusion, part-time tahfiz education needs to be improved in its implementation according to current developments and community demands by emphasizing interactive and effective learning methods as well as providing qualified and experienced teachers to increase the love of community in becoming the Quran bearer which leads toward a Rabbani community and create an atmosphere of Baldatun Tayyibah in the lives of Muslims. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

The manner of the Quranic language enthralled anyone who heard it among the Arabs. The employment of metaphors or amthal is one of the ways the Quran is conveyed. The Quran’s translation into other languages has become necessary in order to communicate the meaning of the Quran to individuals who do not speak Arabic. The Quran translation presents its own set of hurdles and difficulties (Al-Nadawi, 1417H). Amthal musarrahah must be read in light of the verse’s context, and this must be considered when translating the Quran. As a result, the goal of this research is to examine Malay scholars’ translations of the amthal verses and then offer translation recommendations based on the mufassirin’s interpretation. The study is a qualitative research that employs content analysis. In the translation of the Quran into Malay, the research made Tafsir Pimpinan al-Rahman, Terjemahan al-Quran Yayasan Restu, and Mahmud Yunus’ Tafsir al-Quran as references. Only a few Quranic metaphors were chosen as part of the research sample. The study discovered that all three Quranic translations chose to render metaphorical verses in literal form without providing a more indepth explanation of the metaphorical verses’ context. As a result of, it is determined that there is a need to improve the translation of these metaphorical verses in order to transmit a more comprehensive understanding to the target audience. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication Fenomena Tahfiz di Malysia: Keperluan Institut Perguruan Tahfiz Malaysia bagi Lepasan Aliran Tahfiz(UNISZA, 2020) ;Norazman Alias ;Muhammad Hafiz Saleh ;Abd Muhaimin Ahmad ;Muhammad Arif Musa ;Hayati HussinZainora DaudIt is well known that the Quranic sanad is one of the three main conditions in accepting the authentic of Quranic recitations (also known as qiraat). In the beginning, the Quranic sanad was recorded on a piece of paper as an important document confirming that one had finished reading the Quran in front of the teacher and had completed all knowledge related to qiraat. The writings relating toQuranic sanad have evolved with the birth of Quranic figures such as Al-Zahabi (d. 748H) who produced the work of Ma'rifah al-Qurra’ al-Kibar, Ibn al-Jazari (d. 833H) through the work of Ghayah al-Nihayah fi Tabaqat al-Qurra’ and al-Nasyr fi al-Qiraat al-Asyr and more. The objective of this study is to study the methodology in the writing of former scholars in works related to the Quranic sanad. In addition, the study also focuses on the writings of contemporary scholars in this field such as the book of Ithaf al-Zaman bi Asanid Ahl al-Quran by Dr. Ilyas al-Barmawi and the book of al-Salasil al-Zahabiyyah bi al-Asanid al-Nasyriyyah by Dr. Aiman Rusydi Suwaid who reviews the Quranic sanad in a structured and critical manner. This study will be conducted through descriptive qualitative methods with particular focus on selected Quranic sanad books. The deductive method in the study will be used to maximize the expected results. The study found that writing in this field has been given priority by previous scholars by using of the Qurra’ biography method, their teachers and students. The contemporary scholars, however, emphasized the existence of high-level sanad to the Messenger of Allah and also discussed current issues related to sanad. Di antara cabaran terbesar yang dihadapi oleh penghafaz al-Quran adalah mengingati ayat–ayat mutashabih lafaz, iaitu ayat-ayat al-Quran yang sama atau hampir sama dari sudut lafaznya. Kesukaran dalam menghafaz dan mengingati ayat-ayat mutashabih lafaz ini menuntut kepada kaedah pengajaran dan pembelajaran khusus sama ada dari pihak institusi tahfiz, guru dan juga pelajar. Justeru, objektif kajian adalah untuk mengenal pasti kaedah hafazan di kalangan pelajar tahfiz al-Quran terhadap ayat mutashabih lafaz, dengan menjadikan Darul Quran Jakim dan Jabatan al-Quran dan al-Qiraat KUIS sebagai lokasi kajian. Kajian ini dibina berdasarkan metodologi kualitatif yang menggunakan kaedah temubual separa berstruktur sebagai instumen kajian. 30 orang pelajar tahfiz institusi tersebut dipilih sebagai peserta kajian. Publication Khawas Al-Quraan Sebagai Elemen Pelengkap Dalam Pengkaryaan Terjemahan Al-Quran: Kajian Terhadap Kearifan ‘Tafsir Al-Rawi’(Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, 2022-06) ;Adnan Mohamed Yusoff ;Muhammad Arif MusaAhmad Sanusi AzmiThe endeavour to translate the meaning of the Quran is part of a long line of outstanding contributions made by Islamic scholars, dating back to the dawn of Islam. It is consistent with the Quran’s status as dustur al-hayah (constitution of life) for everyone who utters the words of shahdah (testimony), regardless of where they are. Researchers who are looking into the evolution of the Quranic translation will discover a variety of creativity and innovation that add value to readers, particularly in terms of increasing their understanding and appreciation of the verses' literal and implicit meanings, as well as their desire to interact with the noble book. Based on this point, this study is an attempt to investigate and evaluate the suitability of Khawas al-Quran (‘theory and practicality' of the Quran) as one of the potential aspects to be used as part of the complementary components in the Quranic translation. Alike to Fadail al-Quran, Khawas al-Quran appeals to the Muslim community to be committed and perform good deeds in accordance with particular surahs and verses in the al-Quran since it has a reward factor in the form of certain rewards or benefits to its practitioners. Thus, based on Tuan Guru Haji Yusof Bin Abdullah al- Rawi's unique contribution through his work Tafsir al-Rawi, this study will assess and evaluate the prospective application of Khawas al-Quran elements as part of the complementary components of the Quranic translation. This is a literature review that employs text analysis on relevant sources, with the book Tafsir al-Rawi serving as the primary source, followed by the main books of Ulum al-Quran, tafsir, and the most recent research materials such as journal articles, theses, research reports, and other related materials. The wisdom of the author of this book in the field of study linked to Khawas al-Quran is one of the key findings from this study. Beliau banyak menghasilkan kitab dalam pelbagai disiplin pengajian Islam. Namun keunggulan beliau dalam bidang qiraat lebih terserlah. Karya beliau dalam bidang qiraat mewakili peratusan yang tertinggi berbanding bidang pengajian Islam yang lain. Justeru kertas kerja ini dihasilkan bagi menyingkap legasi beliau dalam bidang qiraat. Metodologi kajian ini bersifat kualitatif dan berbentuk analisis kandungan dengan berpandukan kepada kitab-kitab qiraat karangan beliau. Hasil kajian mendapati terdapat enam buah kitab yang telah dihasilkan oleh al-Tarmasiy dalam bidang qiraat. Kitab-kitab tersebut iaitu Tacmim al-Manafic bi Qira’at al-Imam Nafic, Tanwir al-Sadr bi Qira’at al-Imam Abi cAmr, Ghunyat al-Talabah bi Sharh al-Tayyibah, Al-Badr al-Munir fi Qira’at al-Imam Ibn Kathir, Al-Risalah al-Tarmasiyyah fi Isnad al-Qira’at al-cAshriyyah dan Inshirah al-Fawaid fi Qira’at al-Imam Hamzah Riwayatay Khalaf wa Khallad. Among the biggest challenge faced by a student is to remember the mutashabihat verses which appear to be like one another. The difficulty in memorizing and remembering the mutashabih lafaz verses requires specific teaching and learning methods from the institutions of tahfiz, teachers and students. However, how far this matter is addressed seriously at the institutional of tahfiz is still questionable. Therefore, the objective of the study is to identify the methods of memorization among students tahfiz on the mutashabih lafaz verse, by making Darul Quran Jakim and Department of al-Quran and al-Qiraat, KUIS as research locations. This study was developed based on qualitative method using semi structured interviews as research instrument. 30 tahfiz students from both institutions were selected as participants. The study found that the most frequently methods used were; 1. Identifying the mutashabihat verses and making relevant notes during the memorization and revision sessions, 2. Referring to Quranic exegesis or translation to understand the meaning of the verses, 3. Repeating as much as possible with a focus on the mutashabihat verses. The study also found that no specific reference or book was used in both institutions to overcome the difficulty of memorizing the mutashabihat verses. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

The difficulty in memorizing and remembering the mutashabih lafaz verses requires specific teaching and learning methods from the institutions of tahfiz, teachers and students. Therefore, the objective of the study is to identify the accentuation and implementation of teaching mutashabih lafaz verse in tahfiz institutions and their lecturers, by making Darul Quran Jakim and Department of al-Quran and al-Qiraat, KUIS as research locations. This study was developed based on qualitative method using semi structured interviews as research instrument. Two experienced tahfiz teachers from each institution were selected as participants. The study found that there is no reference book nor specific teaching method been used officially in teaching mutashabih lafaz verses, even though the quality of memorization of these verses among students is weak. Bahkan al-Quran adalah manhaj kehidupan yang lengkap membawa manuia ke arah kehidupan yang sejahtera di dunia dan akhirat. Justeru satu tafsir al-Quran telah diusahakan untuk diterbitkan dengan namanya Tafsir al-Bayan. Objektif penerbitan tafsir ini adalah untuk menghasilkan satu terjemahan al-Quran dengan mengguna gaya bahasa terkini yang sesuai dan mudah difahami masyarakat pasca abad 20. Membumikan al-Quran dengan pilihan huraian ayat yang terbaik dengan mengambil kira isu semasa yang berlaku dalam masyarakat dan solusinya melalui al-Quran. Selain itu ia juga bertujuan menghurai tafsir yang menepati kaedah Ulum al-Quran dengan mengambil kira ketepatan maklumat bersandarkan kepada pandangan jumhur al-Mufassirin. Menghuraikan pengajaran ayat dan memberi ruang kepada pembaca untuk tadabbur ayat al-Quran dengan cara yang mudah difahami. Seterusnya ia juga diharapkan akan menjadi rujukan kepada masyarakat awam dalam ilmu Tafsir dan menjadi pilihan guru agama dalam pengajaran mereka serta memperkaya khazanah ilmu di alam melayu. Masyarakat amat memerlu kepada kupasan ilmu tafsir yang jitu dan mantap. Pada masa ini rujukan yang ada dalam maktabah dan huraian tafsir yang ada dalam pasaran kebanyakanya adalah berulang perkara yang sama. Justeru Tafsir al-Bayan ini memberi manfaat yang besar kepada umat Islam. Kemukjizatan al-Quran ini telah memukau ramai pembaca kerana ia memiliki ketinggian bahasanya. Antara kaedah dalam memahami penjelasan al-Quran adalah melalui metafora ataupun ayat amthāl. Tujuan ayat amthāl adalah untuk membawa para pembaca lebih memahami atau mendekati kefahaman terhadap al-Quran. Gambaran mahupun perumpamaan yang dipersembahkan di dalam ayat amthāl mampu memberi kesan yang positif terhadap diri pembaca. Terjemahan al-Quran di dalam bahasa Melayu telah bermula pada abad ke-17. Namun demikian, di dalam penghasilan terjemahan kitab suci al-Quran memerlukan penterjemah yang menguasai ilmu-ilmu tafsir. Fokus kajian adalah untuk membincangkan kajian-kajian mengenai ayat amthāl terhadap terjemahan al-Quran berbahasa Melayu berdasarkan kajian-kajian lepas. Kajian ini menggunakan kaedah kualitatif yang berkonsepkan analisis kandungan terhadap artikel jurnal, buku, tesis dan sebagainya di dalam proses pengumpulan data. Hasil kajian mendapati bahawa terdapat pelbagai kajian berkaitan dengan terjemahan al-Quran yang menyentuh dari segi metodologi, hadith, gaya bahasa dan lain-lain, akan tetapi, kajian terhadap terjemahan ayat amthāl di dalam al-Quran berbahasa melayu perlu kepada kajian tambahan terhadap kualiti terjemahan yang dilakukan. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

The difficulty in memorising and remembering the mutashabihat verses require specific teaching and learning methods from the tahfiz institutions, teachers and students. However, to what extent this matter is addressed seriously at tahfiz institutions still remains a question. Therefore, the objective of the study is to identify the issues and problems in teaching and memorising the mutashabihat verses among tahfiz lecturers and students. The study selected Darul Quran Jakim and Department of al-Quran and al-Qiraat, Kolej Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Selangor as the research locations. This study was developed based on the qualitative method using semi-structured interviews as the research instrument. Four experienced tahfiz lecturers and 30 tahfiz students from both institutions were selected as participants. Among the issues and problems that has been found regarding to the mutashabihat verses are: 1) no specific reference book to assist students to identify mutashabihat verses, 2) lack of focus given on the verses during tasmi’ sessions. Salah satu cara penerangan al-Quran adalah melalui perumpamaan ataupun ayat amthāl. Ayat amthālberfungsi untuk mendekatkan kefahaman al-Quran kepada pendengarnya. Perumpamaan ini juga memberi kesan yang lebih mendalam kepada pembacanya jika mereka mentaddabbur ayat-ayat tersebut. Ulama Islam telah mengkaji ayat-ayat amthalini dan menghasilkan penulisan yang banyak. Ini menunjukkan betapa pentingnya ayat-ayat ini dalam memahami isi kandungan al-Quran. Terjemahan al-Quran berbahasa Melayu telah bermula sejak abad ke-17. Terjemahan al-Quran memerlukan kepada penterjemah untuk menguasai ilmu-ilmu tafsir al-Quran termasuk amthāl al-QurÉn. Tujuan kajian adalah untuk menganalisis terjemahan ayat amthālberbahasa Melayu. Kajian ini merujuk kepada Tafsir Pimpinan ar-Rahman karangan Sheikh Abdullah Basmeih. Kajian dijalankan menerusi perbandingan antara terjemahan tafsir tersebut dengan kefahaman ayat amthālmenurut Abd al-Nāṣir al-Sa’di menerusi kitabnya Taisīr al-Karīm al-Rahmān. Kajian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif berkonsep deskriptif dan analisis. Kajian mendapati terdapat dua kategori ayat amthal; 1-ayat yang mudah difahami dan diterjemah, 2-ayat yang memerlukan kepada tafsiran yang lebih terperinci. Tafsiran Syeikh Abdullah Basmeih pada kategori yang pertama memberikan pemahaman yang jelas, namun pada kategori yang kedua kurang memberikan pemahaman terhadap perbandingan yang dibuat. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Salah satu cara penerangan alQuran adalah melalui metafora ataupun ayat amthāl. Ayat amthāl berfungsi untuk mendekatkan kefahaman al-Quran kepada pembaca. Ulama Islam telah menghasilkan penulisan yang khusus mengenai amthāl Quran menunjukkan kepada kepentingannya dalam disiplin ilmu tafsir al-Quran. Terjemahan al-Quran berbahasa Melayu telah bermula sejak abad ke-17. Terjemahan al-Quran memerlukan kepada penterjemah untuk menguasai ilmu-ilmu tafsir al-Quran termasuk amthāl alQuran. Tujuan kajian adalah untuk menganalisis terjemahan ayat amthāl ke bahasa Melayu Indonesia. Kajian ini merujuk kepada Terjemahan al-Quran yang hasil karya Prof. Dr. Mahmud Yunus. Kajian dijalankan menerusi perbandingan antara terjemahan tafsir Mahmud Yunus dengan kefahaman ayat amthāl menurut Abd al-Nāṣir al-Sa’di menerusi kitabnya Taisīr al-Karīm alRahmān dan Ibn Asyur menerusi kitabnya al-Tahrīr wa al-Tanwīr Kajian ini berbentuk kajian kualitatif menggunakan metode analisis deduktif dan metode perbandingan. Kajian mendapati Mahmud Yunus mempunyai metode yang baik dalam penjelasan metafora al-Quran dengan menggunakan tafsiran tambahan dalam kurungan dan juga komentar tambahan di nota kaki. Namun terdapat juga tempat di mana Mahmud Yunus hanya menterjemahkan metafora al-Quran secara literal tanpa penjelasan tambahan. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

They are also mentioned in hadith literatures as components of the major subject of narration from the Prophet (PBUH) and his companions. In the science of Quranic interpretation, citing narrations about the virtues of verses and surahs is part of the method employed by several commentators where they became the primary component of the introduction to the interpretation of a surah. The quality of hadiths, in particular raises a number of concerns among researchers in this context. In addition, the connection between the virtues indicated in a hadith or narrative and the content and purposes of the surah are worth a study. The primary purpose of this study is to examine, evaluate, and formulate the hadith selection methods of two leading commentators from the tradition-based interpretation, namely Ibn Katsir and al-Tsa'alibiy as well as their approach in combining the meaning of hadith or narration with regard to content and the objective of the surah in the context of attracting the attention of the audience. This study employs the technique of document analysis to two texts, namely Tafsir Ibn Kathir and Tafsir al-Tha'alabiy, in their interpretations of surah alBaqarah. The study concluded that these two commentators cite authentic and valid hadiths regarding fadail. This concept is met with great approval by Western people, resulting in spite and hatred by this group to Islam and Muslims as a whole Making things worse, a group of so-called Islamic thinkers and researchers has emerged to defend this heinous crime by interpreting legal texts according to their desires. Hence, this research aims to explain the Qurʾānic verses and authentic Prophetic hadiths on homosexuality, demonstrating the invalidity of this concept and proving that it is a deviation from nature intended by God Almighty to humans and cannot be deemed as a human right. Undoubtedly homosexuality has dire consequences on individuals and societies. In this study, the researcher referred to many important sources (i.e., texts of the Noble Qurʾān, Sunnah of the Prophet, books of exegesis, explanations on books of the four schools of thought, and others) that deal with the issue
