| dc.description.abstract | The recent developments, and Muslims’ need of for a Qur’anic interpretation addressing the society issues using the Qur’anic verses and achieving the control of tajdid (modernization) and its terms, have led some of the exegetists of the Qur’an such as Ibn Badis and Ibn Uthaymeen to interpret the verses of the Qur’an in view of the problems of their society. This study clarified the terms and qualification of implementing the Qur’anic verses on the reality and then studied and analyzed some contemporary issues on which Ibn Badis and Ibn Uthaymeen implemented the Qur’anic verses, after that compared their approaches in interpreting the Qur’anic verses. To achieve the objectives, this study has adopted the inductive, analytical and comparative methodologies. This study highlighted some of Ibn Badis and Ibn Uthaymeen’s implementations of the Qur’anic verses on the reality in these fields: ‘aqidah, da’wah, moral system, Heart-related materials, contemplation of the Qur’an, seeking knowledge, social and political issues. Then, I compared between their approaches. This study has produced several results. The interpretation of Qur’anic verses to serve the reality requires certain qualification that the interpreter must meet; like a sound belief, knowledge in shari’ah, good intention, correctness of purpose, sound knowledge of reality, and considering the conditions of the period in which the Qur’anic texts were revealed. All the qualities have been realized in Ibn Badis and Ibn Uthaymeen. In addition, the issue of implementing the Qur’anic verses on the reality is linked to some of the rules of Qur’anic interpretation like the rule: (what matters is the generality of the expression, not the reason). The approaches of Ibn Badis and Ibn Uthaymeen in implementing the Qur’anic verses on reality agreed in many issues and differed in some. Among the matters they agreed on are knowledge of their reality, and the developments that occur in it, their use of the verses of the Holy Qur’an in dealing with the society ailments, their testimonials about the condition of the society, the presentation of the problem before implementing the Qur’anic verse, their citation of the Holy Qur’an, and the oral and practical Sunnah on implementing the verse, the development of a method to work with both Al-Qur’an and Sunnah, the presentation of the results and effects of working with the Qur’anic verse, and not neglecting the aspect of advice and guidance after the implementing of the Qur’anic verse. Ibn Badis' interpretation of Qur’anic verses was characterized by organization and systematic division, and writing titles indicating the use of the verse. Ibn Badis has used the indirect interpretation of the verse, and urged and desired teamwork, and called for knowing the cosmic science, while the researcher did not find such things with Ibn Uthaymeen. It appeared on Ibn Uthaymeen’s interpretation, the method of severity in refuting violators, and the use of transmission and reasoning in refuting them, and prioritizing obeying the ruler, while this did not appear in Ibn Badis’ interpretation due to the difference in their eras and circumstances in which they both lived. | en_US |
