Abstract

The Community Rehabilitation Programme (CRP) was established in 2011 to increase productivity and reduce government expenses. Since 2012, it has collaborated with agencies and local governments to provide physical- and mental-oriented activities that are predicted to positively impact the inmates (ODS). Even though the CRP and ODS are monitored regularly, the Malaysian Prison Department (MPD) deliberated on whether to maintain or expand the capacity of the CRP in Kuantan. This situation occurred due to the tightening economic situation, which urged them to make a decision regarding this issue. There were requests from ODS who were given the opportunity to participate in this program. Therefore, as the Vice Director of Community Rehabilitation Programme (CRP) Kuantan, Mr. Mansor was given the responsibility to prepare a report regarding the activities and their effects on the ODS. His role was to consider opinions from instructors of the LPPKN, CRP staff and the ODS, as well as his experiences while managing this program.
