This paper highlights on the issue of hospitality and generosity in al-Qur’ān al-Karīm with an aim to explore the various fields of both qualities through the interpretation of Sheikh al-Sha`rāwī in his tafsīr (exegesis). The importance of this paper is evident from the broad understanding of the concept of hospitality and generosity from the basic relationship between the host and the guest to what is broader than that in various other fields such as business transaction and companies, as well as hotels and government and educational institutions of which their notion has extended from individual to the social level. The study is started by exploring Qur’anic texts related to the topic of hospitality and generosity, followed with collecting and classifying them according to their fields. They are then analysed through the views of Sheikh al-Sha`rāwī from his interpretation of these texts, before comparing them with those of another mufassirīn. The paper concludes that hospitality has two areas; individual and societal hospitality, and likewise is generosity with its two areas, namely generosity in family and in social level.

This paper studies on the issue of al-‘istishhād (taking evidence or citing) from the Qur’ān and the narrations of the prophet in al-sīrah al-nabawiyyah (prophetic biography), with an objective to expound the method taken by 'Akrām Ḍiyā' al-ʿŪmarī on this issue through his magnum opus, the al-Sīrah al-Nabawiyyah al-Ṣaḥīḥah. The researcher starts by laying down the fundamental points on the concept of al-‘istishhād from the Qur’ān and narrations of the prophet. It is then followed by an analysis on the method of 'Akrām Ḍiyā' al-ʿŪmarī in citing them in the prophetic biography throughout his book, the al-Sīrah al-Nabawiyyah al-Ṣaḥīḥah, with some evidence from the latter. The researcher then brings about a basic comparison between his method and the methods of another selected sīrah scholars from muḥadīthin and historians . The paper concludes that al-ʿŪmarī pursues the approach of the sīrah scholars in citing the Qur’ān and the narrations of the prophet in al-sīrah al-nabawiyyah.
