This study was aimed to study the factor of career resilience among people with hearing impairments who work in the East Coast States of Peninsular Malaysia. There were 166 samples (101 male, 65 female) involved in this study. The selection of the study’s sample used purposeful sampling technique. The set of questionnaires that was distributed was Career Resilience for Adults with Disabilities Scale (CRADS). The data collected were analysed using SPSS Version 23.0 (Statistical Package for Social Science) and the findings of the study were analysed using the descriptive statistic which includes frequency tabulation, percentages, mean and standard deviation, as well as inferential analysis using t-test and ANOVA to observe the differences of the career resilience among workers with hearing impairment by gender and marital status. The t-test analysis showed a significant difference between the career resilience factor among the workers with hearing impairment by gender with the tvalue= -1.198 and the significance level p=.042. While, the value of F(165) =.170,p>.05 indicated there was no significant differences between the group of marital status.

The mother’s role is essential in an adolescent’s development due to the challenges of life and exposure to the outside world, which affect and constantly change the mother’s role. This study intends to explore the experiences of the mother’s roles in the mother-child relationship among adolescents with unwanted pregnancies. A phenomenological approach was employed to obtain the essence of the experiences. A total of 10 participants comprising of five pregnant adolescents and their mothers were interviewed to understand the role played by the adolescents’ mothers during the pregnancy. A diary was distributed among the adolescents to allow them to externalise and express the experiences that they had with their mothers while being pregnant. This study used thematic analysis because it is flexible in interpreting the data and allows to approach large data sets more easily by sorting them into broad themes. Five themes emerged as follows: (a) supervising and monitoring, (b) rules and regulations, (c) showing affection, (d) educating adolescents, and (e) giving encouragement and support. This study provided insights on the mothers’ struggles in raising their adolescents which were highlighted from two perspectives: adolescents and mothers. The findings revealed the challenges faced by the mothers with various types of family structure.

Introduction: Bullying is a traumatic event which has negative consequences on adolescents' mental health. A likely consequence is posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Objective: The study had two objectives: (a) to measure the level of trauma and (b) to see the effectiveness of dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) as an intervention for teenagers with PTSD. Methodology: The participant was a 15-year-old Malay female teenager from a boarding school, who completed a PCL-5 instrument to determine the level of trauma. A descriptive methodology was applied to answer the first objective while thematic analysis was utilised for the second objective. The adopted methodology of this research was a mixed method, quasi-experimental design using PCL-5 for the instrument and in-depth interviews for qualitative data. There were six sessions held by the mental health practitioner to assess the effectiveness of DBT in dealing with the teenager with PTSD. Results: The results confirm that (a) the percentage of victims of PTSD and bullying was significantly higher and needed an intervention by a mental health practitioner, and (b) the victim had suffered significantly with trauma that led to low self-esteem, self-harm, and suicide attempt. The result further indicated that DBT techniques using mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness showed significantly improved effectiveness in helping the victim cure the symptoms related to PTSD. Discussion: The study emphasised the importance of intervention from family, school, and society at large to reduce bullying and enhance respect for sexual diversity which is discussed as an effective tool to help the victims of PTSD.
