Pada awal tahun ini, dunia telah dilanda dengan satu wabak yang bersifat pandemik yang mengorbankan ratusan ribu umat manusia akibat dijangkiti virus COVID-19. Dalam kegawatan penyelidik mencari vaksin untuk virus ini, ramai sarjana tampil memperihalkan tentang bagaimana seharusnya umat Islam berhadapan dengan virus ini. Segenap manusia di seluruh dunia terkesan dengan wabak ini dan ia bukan hanya virus yang mendiami fizikal badan manusia tetapi ia juga melumpuhkan banyak sistem kehidupan manusia termasuklah aspek sosial, ekonomi, kekeluargaan, kerohanian dan sebagainya. Kajian ini akan mengupas sudut pandang kerohanian (spiritual) terutamanya dalam menghadapi musibah atau khususnya wabak COVID-19 bagi individu Islam yang beriman dengan ketentuan Allah iaitu Qada’ dan Qadar-Nya. Metod kajian ini menggunapakai kaedah analisis kandungan karya Sheikh Sa’id Hawwa iaitu Tarbiyatuna al-Ruhiyyah sebagai sampel kajian. Hasil kajian ini mendapati bahawa tingkah laku manusia sangat bersifat dinamik dan saling berkait rapat dengan nilai agama atau kerohanian seseorang. Niat seseorang dalam tingkah laku boleh diramalkan daripada sikap terhadap tingkah laku, norma-norma yang bersifat subjektif dan kawalan tingkah laku seseorang. Ia sangat membantu individu dalam menghadapi Perintah Kawalan Pergerakan (PKP) di rumah semasa menghadapi pandemik COVID-19. Said Hawwa juga menjelaskan tentang domain kerohanian iaitu berpusat di hati dan domain-domain yang lain yang menyumbang kepada kecerdasan kerohanian yang mampu menjadi pertahanan bagi mereka yang menghadapi musibah terutama musibah COVID-19.

Spiritual Intelligence is essential in facing any trials of life. As Muslims who believe in the provisions of Qada’ and Qadar of Allah SWT, besides making efforts to protect oneself physically, it is necessary to ask Allah for self-protection. The role of spirituality is undeniable as it helps to stabilize humans to remain positive during the pandemic of Covid-19. This article will discuss the importance of spiritual intelligence and the role of faith and patience to the Qada’ and Qadar of Allah vis-a-vis the trial of Covid-19. It will also examine the approach of Said Hawwa’s Spiritual Intelligence to help individuals facing this pandemic. Besides that, it will also highlight his interpretation of aspects of mujahadah and its articles (al-Uzlah, Al-Samtu, Al-Ju’ and Al-Sahru) concerning Muslim issues during this trial. The methodology of this paper is of a qualitative study that focuses on the writing of Sheikh Said Hawwa in hisTarbiyatuna al-Ruhiyyahregarding the importance of spirituality on the pertaining aspects of Akidah, Syariah and Akhlaq

Artikel ini akan menjelaskan mengenai sudut pandang Hamka mengenai persoalan keimanan dengan qada’ dan qadar yang terdapat dalam novel-novel Hamka. Bagi mengeluarkan pandangan beliau tentang persoalan qada’ dan qadar ini penulis telah meneliti terhadap beberapa buah penulisan novel Hamka, antaranya adalah novel Tenggelamnya Kapal Van Der Wijck, Di Bawah Lindungan Kaabah dan Terusir. Hamka di dalam novel-novel ini telah memasukkan elemen-elemen akidah Islam yang sangat berkait rapat dengan persoalan qada’ dan qadar di dalam penceritaannya melalui watak-watak yang diketengahkan mahupun melalui gaya bahasanya yang mendalam. Antara persoalan qada’ dan qadar paling utama yang diterapkan dalam novel-novel ini adalah manusia tidak dapat lari dari menerima takdir hidupnya sekalipun ia pahit. Oleh itu tempat bergantung paling hakiki bagi seorang insan dalam semua situasi kehidupannya adalah Allah swt. Manakala cara untuk membolehkan seseorang dapat menerima takdir hidupnya yang pahit antaranya adalah dengan mempunyai teman yang betul akidahnya untuk menasihatinya menerima takdir itu.

Kajian ini dijalankan untuk mengetahui tahap penyalahgunaan dadah dan gejala sosial di kalangan remaja dan belia di tanah rancangan tanah felda. Di samping itu kajian ini juga meninjau tentang tahap aktiviti dakwah di kalangan masyarakat felda. Kajian ini adalah berbentuk participiant observation dan ia telah dijalankan di salah sebuah tanah rancangan felda di negeri Pahang selama dua bulan dengan menerangkan dan memperihalkan budaya sesebuah masyarakat yang kompleks. Hasil kajian mendapati bahawa memang terdapat masalah penyalahgunaan dadah dan gejala sosial di kalangan masyarakat tanah rancangan Felda. Di antara gejala sosial ini termasuklah pengangguran, melepak, merokok, ponteng sekolah, VCD lucah, pornografi dan sebagainya. Diantara punca berlakunya gejala sosial ini ialah kelesuan aktiviti dakwah, kelemahan institusi pentadbiran dan pengurusan, ketidakseimbangan antara pembangunan ekonomi dan infrantruktur dengan aspek pembangunan insan, keruntuhan institusi kekeluargaan dan sebagainya. Kajian ini mencadangkan supaya diwujudkan pusat ilmu dan dikendalikan oleh penggerak masyarakat di setiap tanah rancangan bagi membolehkan seseorang kebali kepada penghayatan agama yang kukuh sebagai satu usaha kepada penyelesaian masalah sosial dan penyalahgunaan dadah.

Natural Disaster such as big flood, earthquake, tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, fire raze, landslide, and other kinds of disaster always occurred everywhere in the world. The role of disaster workers is crucial in saving the victims in a critical situation where the inner strength to confront the dangerous situation and comfort the victims is needed. This study examines whether the training content to disaster workers possess sufficient knowledge and skills to cater the physical needs, as well as the emotional turmoil and instability situation, occurred to the victims. The secondary data sought from library and website research, scholars’ opinion from journals published and past research conducted. The psycho-spiritual competencies from the conventional and Islamic perspectives are highlighted. Differences in the two approaches were compared and evaluated. The finding shows that the disaster workers require both conventional and Islamic approaches of psycho-spiritual competencies to cater to the needs of disaster victims during the rescue process take place. Hence, Islamic psycho spiritual competencies contribute to the inner strength of the Muslim disaster workers as its emblem the soul and the spiritual heart qalb which correlated as the determinant factor of the well-being of the physical body of the human being.

A scholar affirms that “the pluralistic arrangement” has proven to be a source of socio-political tension rather than a solution. A number of prominent social scientists in the West have yet to suggest that the idea of religious pluralism, is the best way of dealing with diversity, together with its essential values. However, the situation in Malaysia has shown a different scenario. This paper will look into those elements proposed by the Western scholars to be the overriding values of religious pluralism in maintaining a harmonious living among people of different religions. In doing so, this paper will present the ideas of the Malaysian scholars of what they understood as the essence of “majmuk” or living in a plural society as a response to the Western idea of religious pluralism. This will highlight one of the objectives of this paper which is to present selected writings and opinions of Muslims and Christians social scientists in Malaysia on the discourse of religious pluralism. The study has undergone a series of interview to Muslim and Christian scholars. Based on the findings, it is noted that some scholars proved that religious pluralism discourse in Malaysia is contestable. This is due to its link to the Western modern philosophy and secularism. Finally, it also consults meaningful recommendations given by the scholars in facing the challenges of living together as one family in “Muhibah”.

This article analyses the spiritual model of good deeds according to Imamal-Ghazali. Being a great jurist and Sufi master, al-Ghazali made earnest efforts in his own way to rediscover the inner dimension of religious observance and to bring about a return in Muslim societies to a more profound reflection upon the inner dimension of the spiritual life. This article discovers that al-Ghazali formulates an important spiritual analysis of good deeds, offering a sophisticated way of understanding and performing them, formulated within the framework of his own direct mystical experience. This article found that al-Ghazali addresses his own unique and profound ways of understanding and performing good deeds to every level of society which can be developed into a spiritual model in various degrees. He formulates and systematises the Inner Knowledge (‘ilm al-batin) and inner actions (al-a‘mal al-batinah) of good deeds which should be observed equally. He insists that only through the balanced observance of outer and inner dimensions can good deeds achieve their goals and be conducive to spiritual growth.

This research is geared up to examine the availability of audio-visual equipments in numerous mosques located in Selangor. It is also to measure the fi-equency of usage of these facilities provided and the capability of the staffs to handle these equipments appropriately. The research has been conducted on 37 selected mosques particularly located in a district of city or town and run by Jabatan Agama Islam Selangor (JAIS). This is a fieldwork research whereby the methods of collecting data are mainly fiom interviews with selected respondents and based on a set of questions for questionnaire. The respondents of this research are primarily from the committees and staffs who responsible on the affairs of the mosques. The research has shown that majority of the mosques are provided with the basic equipments like microphone, cassettes on al-Quran recitations and radios. Yet, other equipments ofhighly technology are ofnon-existence in many of these mosques.

Generally, the training module for disaster workers has been built based on technical skills as to affirm that the disaster workers capable of responding to any situation that occurs. However, in particular situation the psycho-spirituality skill is needed to deal with an unexpected scenario. The importance to understand the value of psycho-spirituality is vital, especially to the trainer of the disaster module. This study has been conducted to the trainers of one of the disaster agencies in Malaysia. The interview has been conducted to six trainers whereby nine structured questions regarding the necessary skills taught to the disaster workers and the needs of psycho-spirituality skills to respond during the disaster. The finding shows that the trainers have a consensus agreement that the technical skills form as prior knowledge for the disaster workers. By having the psycho spiritual content in the training module, they can balance their emotional, internal spiritual and physical well-being while maintaining resilient. Thus, this study suggests that psycho-spiritual content is very much important to be included in the training module for disaster workers as to enhance the training content comprehensively both in technical and spiritual aspects.

Wacana Pluralisme Agama telah berkembang dan menjadi perbahasan di kalangan para cendiakawan Barat mahupun dalam kalangan dunia Muslim semenjak akhir kurun ke20. Malah, faham eksklusif agama atau (religious exclusivism) telah mencorakkan dan memberi kesan kepada pemahaman maksud agama di Barat. Ini kerana, perkataan “agama” seringkali dikaitkan dengan faham eksklusif agama yang didominasi oleh agama Kristian dan telah menjadi kayu ukur dalam menetapkan ciri-ciri penting agama lain (non-Christians). Pengalaman agama Kristian juga melakar perubahan daripada konteks beragama yang “eksklusif”, inklusif dan akhirnya apa yang disebut oleh saintis sosial sebagai “pluralisme agama”. Justeru, kertas kerja ini akan meneliti makna perkataan agama menurut Sarjana Barat dan Muslim, merungkai perkembangan pengalaman beragama agama Kristian dan agama-agama lain di Barat melalui sudut pandang teologi Kristian secara eksklusif, inklusif dan pluralsime agama, dan menyenaraikan kesan perubahan teologi ini kepada agama Kristian dan masyarakat Barat. Metodologi kajian adalah bersifat deskriptif dan kajian perbandingan terhadap penulisan-penulisan sarjana Muslim dan Barat tentang pemahaman idea pluralisme agama. Dapatan kajian ini juga telah mendapati bahawa walaupun terdapat usaha untuk mempromosikan fahaman pluralisme agama di Barat dan di seluruh dunia ini tetapi usaha ini mendapat tentangan dalam kalangan tokoh agama Kristian dan para pemikir di Barat.

The debate on the issue of wahdatul wujud has long been in force among scholars. In Malaysia, this issue is associated with aqeedah which is then half the country's pleasure forbids teaching and practice wahdatul wujud. However, the discussion of wahdatul wujud needs to be refined by looking at it from a different perspective, from the perspective of aqeedah and Sufism. Although the two sciences have different disciplines, this study will outline the point of reflection and meeting to harmonize understanding of the term. With that, the main objective of this study is to understand the concept of wahdatul wujud, the differences of views of the ulama and to harmonize these views with the approach of the discipline of faith and Sufism. Therefore, this study uses the methodology of historical and textual analysis of the books of the aqidah and tasawwuf fields. Obtained is the description of wahdatul form according to some ulema of the faith by looking at the point of view of other religions and compared with the term wahdatul form, while, Tasawwuf scholars also see the term with other intentions that are not related to the concept of hulul and ittihad. Exactly, mistakes and tensions that appear to have been incurred are caused by the terminology which is translated with incorrect translations. Therefore, the term wahdatul wujud needs to be explained correctly and precisely. This case may be resolved by perfecting scientific disciplines on the basis of clearer Islamic Shari'a.
