Publication اكتساب اللغة العربية كاللغة الثانية على نظرية سكنر: دراسة حالة لدى طالبات معهد دار السلام كونتور الحرم الثاني للبنات(USIM Press, 2022) ;Yoke SuryadarmaPutri Ayu Berliana CitraAcquiring a second language needs several linguistic factors such as the environment and language activities. This article aims to describe the process of acquiring Arabic Language based on Skinner’s theory in Darussalam Gontor the second campus for girls. This research is qualitative research using three methods to collect data; observation, interview, and written documents. And for the data analysis used the Miles and Huberman method including data collection, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The researcher concluded (1) the language activities and the language environment in this institute stimulated and supported Skinner's language acquisition process which is held with a strict system, so then the students are accustomed to using Arabic. (2) The linguistic activities in this institute that match Skinner’s theory are many, such as the morning conversation, the evening supplementary subject, theatrical representation, and others. From here, it appeared that the acquisition of the Arabic in this institute is identical to Skinner's theory. The researcher suggests this research can give some additional thought to Arabic Teaching as the second language in other Islamic Institutions by adopting examples from several language exercises in this article that match with Skinner's theory for building the Arabic language system in each institution.1 9 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Publication ترجمة معاني القرآن الكريم بالكلمات العربية المستعملة في اللغة الأمّ ترجمة سورة الفاتحة باللغة البنغالية نموذجاMost of the Bengali Native Speakers are not conscious about understanding the meanings of the Qur’an when reciting, even though there are many translations in their language. On the other hand, they have a strong background in Arabic language although they have not learned it. Consequently, they have a strong background in the language of the Holy Qur’an as well. There are hundreds and thousands of Arabic Nouns adopted in Bengali, and many of them are mentioned in the Qur'an as well. This article presents a contrastive analytical study between Inflected Nouns of Surah Al-Fatihah and what is used from them in Bengali language. This study also attempts to examine the possibility of using the same noun or a noun from its roots when translating its meanings. Hence, the study aims at exploring the similarities and differences between its meanings from both languages to know how easy it is to understand their meanings without referring to any dictionary or translation during their next recitation. The study used inductive method in collecting data in terms of verbal similarity symmetry and analytical method in describing them in terms of lexical similarity. This study chose several famous Bengali vocabulary dictionaries to collect data and cite their meanings. The study shows that most of the Inflected Nouns themselves are used in the Bengali language verbally and lexically, where some of them are used by another noun/s from their roots. At the end, this study brought a translation of the meaning of the surah, using those Arabic Names. It is expected that the study will be a prelude to translate the meaning of the entire Qur’an in this manner.6 13 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Publication Strategies in Language Learning: A Survey Among Undergraduate Japanese Language Students in USIMIt is crucially important to know what strategies are used by language learners in learning the targeted language, so that teachers will have better insights to prepare classes that equally suit learners’ behaviour. This is a pilot study aiming to identify what are the most and less frequent learning strategies used by Japanese language learners at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM). A set of questionnaires adapted from the Oxford’s Strategy Inventory for Language Learning (SILL) has been distributed to 259 USIM Japanese learners at the end of semester academic year of 2021/2022. 54 students volunteered to participate and answer the questionnaire. The average frequency for each category in SILL has been identified. As for the results, Japanese language learners at USIM are moderate users of metacognitive categories as the average frequency is at the highest. In contrast, strategies from affective categories have the lowest frequency of usage. It is a hope, that in the future, learners are introduced with a set of learning strategies before or during the classes in order to help them find the best way of acquiring the target language.4 14 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication Didikan Cinta Rasulullah SAW dalam Kalangan Pelajar Sekolah Menengah(USIM Press, 2022) ;Bhasah Abu Bakar; ;Nurhasma Muhamad Saad ;Sulaiman IsmailMesbahul HoqueThe love of Rasulullah SAW means trying to emulate Rasulullah SAW from all aspects of his life. As a result, someone will form very good Islamic practice in daily life. Thus, school students should be educated to make Islam their way of life through the Love of Rasulullah SAW by knowing Islamic icon leaders and emulate him in their daily lives. For the purpose of study, 2407 students in total from various secondary schools in Malaysia have been surveyed about their love for the Prophet SAW. The measurement of their love for the Prophet SAW is made based on how often they practice the way of life of the Prophet SAW. Instruments from Bhasah et al (2011) were used to obtain data from several aspects of the Prophet's practice. The reliability of the instrument is at Cronbach Alpha 0.96. The study found that the level of love for the Prophet SAW for secondary school students was satisfactory, at a mean level of 3.00 with a standard deviation of 0.36 on a scale of 4. Participants from Religious High Schools showed a higher level of Love for the Prophet SAW compared to participants from boarding schools and daily secondary schools. This is reinforced by the mean difference between the schools in question being statistically significant with a value of F(2,2373) = 69.872, p < 0.001. As many as 8% of students were able to show the love of Rasulullah SAW very high and there are less than 10% of students who are still at the level of love of Rasulullah SAW which is less. Almost 80% of students have shown the love of Rasulullah SAW which is so satisfying. Female students (mean = 3.0077, sp = 0.365) showed a higher Love of the Prophet SAW compared to male students (mean = 2.9886, sp = 0.391), but the difference was not statistically significant with a t-value (2389) = - 1.213, p > 0.05.7 38 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Publication Teaching English for Academic Purposes Through Project-Based Learning Method and Process Writing Approach(USIM Press, 2022); ;Haliza Harun ;Nursyuhada’ Ab Wahab ;Suo Yan juMyra Aidrin Mohd AliEnglish for Academic Purposes (EAP) has gained more prominence in the field of English Language Teaching (ELT) since its initiation in the 1980s. In Malaysia, a country where English is its second language, EAP is widely taught in many tertiary institutions. This is due to its main aim which is to focus on the communicative skills needed for academic purposes in formal educational settings to accomplish academic tasks such as delivering presentations, participating in academic discussions as well as writing academic and research essays. At USIM, EAP BIA3012 is a compulsory course introduced with the aim to develop students’ English proficiency and provide students with appropriate skills demanded in completing academic tasks at the tertiary level. The EAP course conducted at USIM employs the project-based learning (PBL) method, coupled with the process writing approach. This paper describes the application of both approaches in the implementation of EAP. The research project assigned to students will be explicated through its anatomy or structure according to PBL. Additionally, process writing, an approach to teaching writing that allows the students to undergo a journey of co-constructing texts under the guidance of the teachers, will also be clearly explained. In particular, this paper will outline the complicated and non-linear nature of writing shown through these elements—generating ideas, focusing, reviewing, evaluating, structuring, drafting—which are taught and completed through a project assigned to students.4 31 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
