Publication Abrogation in the Quran: Perspectives of Jamal Al-Banna and Jasser Auda(Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, 2024) ;Shohib Khoiri ;Syed Mohammad Chaedar ;Muhammad Yusry AffandyNusairah Binti RamliThis study aims to examine the opinions of Jamal al-Banna and Jasser Auda regarding abrogation in religious texts. Both figures are included in this study because they have different backgrounds of thought: Jamal al-Banna is known for his liberal thinking, while Jasser Auda is known as a progressive thinker who still follows the style of thought of mainstream scholars. This research is a qualitative-extractive study, with the main references being their two books related to abrogation:Tafnid Da’wa al-Naskh fi al-Quran al-Karimby Jamal al-Banna andNaqd Nadzariyyah al-Naskh: Bahtsun fi Fiqh Maqashid al-Syariahby Jasser Auda. Based on the research results, both argue that there is no abrogation in religious texts. One of the reasons they provide is that there is no strong evidence explaining the existence of abrogation in religious texts, especially given the disputes among scholars regarding the abrogating verse and the abrogated verse. According to both of them, abrogation has implications for changes in theshariah (Islamic law), so the evidence supporting its existence must be strong.16 71 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication Analisis Semantik Leksikal al-Zamakhsharī Terhadap Frasa "Personal Branding" Nabi Mūsā (AS) dalam al-Qur`ān(Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, 2024-12-01) ;Rafi Dinilhaq ;Novizal WendryNandi PintoThis study is prompted by the presence of particular phrases in the Qurʾān that highlight Prophet Mūsā’s distinctive attributes, what can be termed his “personal branding.” These phrases provide a lens through which to compare the Qurʾānic portrayal of Prophet Mūsā’s character with commonly held perceptions. The research aims to uncover the deeper meanings behind these personal branding elements and to encourage reflection on their significance. Employing a qualitative methodology, the inquiry centers on verses narrating Prophet Mūsā’s story. Al-Zamakhsharī’s semantic theory guides the examination of the linguistic features of these phrases, while Peter Montoya’s “The Eight Laws of Personal Branding” helps classify the aspects that shape Prophet Mūsā’s personal brand. The findings indicate that Prophet Mūsā’s personal branding is established through four key dimensions: specialisation, leadership, personality, and differentiation. These facets emerge from eight Qurʾānic descriptors—al-Qawiy, al-Amīn, Mukhlaṣ, Rasūl, Nabiyyā, Ghaḍbān, al-Kalīm, and al-Aʿlā. The study concludes that the narrative verses of the Qurʾān can be analyzed not only for their moral guidance but also for the insights they offer into the personal branding of their central figures. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Publication An Analysis of Sisters in Islam’s (SIS) Misinterpretation of the Gender Equality in the Quran(USIM Press, 2020-12); ; ; Nadzrah AhmadThe main agenda of feminism movements is to fight for gender equality between women and men. This agenda is advocated both by the Western as well as by some Muslim feminists. In Malaysia, a Muslim activist group who aggressively fight for gender equality is known as Sisters in Islam (SIS). This group has challenged and questioned the validity and reliability of the interpretation of some Quranic verses related to women, as it is felt that some of the verses were misinterpreted. To the group, the misinterpretation of the verses has led to misunderstanding regarding the positions and rights of women, which resulted into gender inequality. This paper aims to discuss the standpoint of SIS concerning gender equality by focusing on several issues; the superiority of men (qawwamah), the credibility of women as witness and the rights of women to be an imam. An analytical technique is used to analyse the SIS group’s viewpoint on the issues by referring several printed sources and articles published. These views will be compared with prominent Muslim scholars’ interpretation on related verses that has been used to find any contradiction or misinterpretation. The study concluded that SIS holds a misleading understanding on the interpretation of certain Quranic verses led by misrepresented claims on the unfounded contradiction between the verses of the Quran3 22 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Publication Autentikasi Hadith-Hadith Kitab Al-Nikah Daripada Kitab Bulughul Maram Karya Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar Al-Asqalani(USIM Press, 2021-12) ;Mohd Muhiden Abd RahmanMohd Bakhit Haji AliFalsification of hadiths has spread tremendously among society as the dissemination of fabricated hadiths has been normalised among the public and Islamic and religious scholars. This issue is not a new phenomenon but has been evolving since the hadiths were transmitted orally and developed through writing such as books and so on. It is also a well-known fact that hadith scholarship's contribution via writings includes written materials from the current and past Islamic and religious scholars, including Siamese scholars. This article aims to discover the authenticity of hadiths in ‘Kitab al-Nikah’ from the book of ‘Bulughul Maram min Adillat al-Ahkam’ written by al-Hafiz ibn Hajar (m. 852H). Even though al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar mentioned the majority of the sources for the hadiths, yet there are some hadiths which sources are left unmentioned. He also divided the hadiths into thematic points, although few hadiths have not been categorised under suitable themes. All of the hadiths will be analysed in terms of their authenticity, tanasub and suitability in terms of nikah. In order to identify the status and authenticity of the hadiths, a specific method will be used: takhrij (retrieval) based on the theme of the hadiths. A descriptive method will be used to analyse the hadiths in the tanasub point of view and the suitability of the hadith towards certain themes. The research showed that 86% of the hadiths found in ‘Kitab al-Nikah’ are authentic and based on authorised and muktabar books of hadiths. In addition, 95% of the hadiths chosen were relevant and suitable with the theme of nikah.6 10 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Publication Belief on The Purpose of Religion According to Quranic Perspective Amongst Malaysian Public University Students(Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, 2017)Mohammed Zabidi, M.Islam teaches its adherents to practice the noblest forms of ethics and morality called Akhlak. Akhlak or Islamic ethics and morality provide peace in human life, whether to an individual or the community and portray the image of Islam as a religion of mercy for all. However, in the context of UiTM students where Malay Muslims are the majority, the rise in problems related to unethical behaviors among them poses an important question, what do the Malay Muslims in Malaysia understand about being a Muslim? What are their beliefs about the purpose of professing the Islamic faith? By taking a group of UiTM students who are largely composed of Malay Muslims, this study analyses their level of belief regarding the purpose of religion. A total of 1313 students from all UiTM branches in Peninsular Malaysia were selected as respondents through the group strata sampling technique. Data from the questionnaire were analyzed using SPSS (Version 12.0). Frequencies, percentages, and means were reported for each sub-construct. The study concludes that students’ belief about the purpose of religion is still tied to aspects of cultural, ritual and customs. Hence, the inculcation of students’ belief in religion should be reinforced by the understanding of the basic essentials of Islam and the Unity of God (Tawhid) so that students recognise and acknowledges with certainty that the purpose of religion is to accomplish the goal of creation and to realise the original covenant entered with Allah SWT in the day of alastu. Belief in the purpose of religion should be linked to the goals of creation and to the covenant made.22 1 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Publication A Comparative Study Between Reflexive Thematic Analysis in Social Sciences and Qur’anic Thematic Analysis in Qur’anic Sciences(USIM Press, 2021-12) ;Nur Afifah AbasMohd Nizam SahadIslamization of social sciences is a collective religious obligation (farḍ al-kifāyah) to serve the Muslim community. Thus, it is steadily progressing after being established last century. However, the Western secularly oriented social scientists as typically sceptical, especially the positivistic, or post-positivistic ones. Moreover, editors of established journals also are reluctant to acknowledge the application of traditional Islamic methodologies in the Islamization of Knowledge (IoK) researches due the methodological integrity issues such as the validity issues according to their practice. But then, Islam has a lengthy history of traditional methodologies dated back to the time of the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. whose prophethood began in the seventh century C.E. Since then, he had founded initial Thematic Analysis methodology in interpreting the Holy Qur'an with another relevant part of it intertextually, and his prophetic guidance (al-Sunnah), which is more developed in the Fundamentals of Islamic Jurisprudence (Usul al-Fiqh) for its significant role to the Islamic Jurisprudence (al-Fiqh al-Islamī). Thus, by rights it has to be equivalently recognized like other de/post-colonial/subaltern methodologies especially when it is being used in IoK movement that revers the revelation (al-Naqlī) above the human intellect (al-ᶜAqlī). This paper is a comparative study between the Reflexive Thematic Analysis method that is commonly used in the Social Sciences and the Qur’anic Thematic Analysis (QTA – Al-Tafsīr Al-Mauḍūᶜī) methodology under the Qur’anic Sciences (ᶜUlūm al-Qur’ān). Some compatible methodological fusions allowable in Islam are suggested for the QTA to stay relevant in merging the Islamic Studies into the contemporary Social Sciences.2 9 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication The Concept of “Akhlaq” in Hadith Fi’li on The Word “Basar”(Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, 2016)Jamal, I. H.Segala bentuk percakapan, perbuatan, pengakuan, sikap serta sifat fizikal Rasulullah SAW dirakamkan di dalam hadis. Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
