Publication Cabaran Aplikasi Modul Terapi Filial dalam Kalangan Ibu bagi Menangani Isu Tingkah Laku Kanak-kanak(Fakulti Pendidikan Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, 2018) ;Nadziroh Md Zubir ;Ku Suhaila Ku Johari ;Zuria Mahmud ;Nor Hamizah Ab RazakSabihah JohanTerapi Filial merupakan satu pendekatan melatih ibu bapa bermain secara terapeutik bersama anak mereka iaitu anak fokus. Tujuan kajian ini adalah meneroka cabaran peserta melaksanakan Terapi Filial sebagai intervensi kaunseling bagi menangani isu tingkah laku. Peserta kajian terdiri daripada lima orang ibu yang mempunyai anak bermasalah tingkah laku. Peserta dipilih berdasarkan tiga kritieria utama iaitu berminat menyertai dan menjalankan sesi bermain, fasih menulis serta bertutur dalam bahasa Melayu dan mempunyai anak mempunyai salah satu isu iaitu tingkah laku. Kajian ini menggunakan teknik snowball dalam pemilihan sampel. Dalam intervensi ini peserta menjalankan lima kali sesi bermain bersama anak fokus dengan menggunakan kemahiran asas Terapi Bermain Pemusatan Kanak-Kanak. Data diperoleh melalui temu bual, pemerhatian dan analisis dokumen bagi memastikan triangulasi dicapai. Data dianalisis secara bertema menggunakan perisian N-vivo. Hasil dapatan kajian mendapati antara cabaran yang dihadapi oleh peserta adalah kesukaran mengikuti peraturan sesi bermain, menetapkan masa bermain, menyediakan tempat bermain, peserta bosan dan budaya. Implikasi kajian ini menyumbang kepada pembangunan profesion kaunseling iaitu kaunselor harus mengambil kira cabaran-cabaran tersebut sebagai garis panduan menggunakan Terapi Filial sebagai satu pendekatan. Garis panduan ini dapat membantu kaunselor mempraktiskan Terapi Filial dalam meneroka serta memudahkan ibu bapa bermain bersama anak dalam suasana terapeutik. Terapi Filial juga berupaya menjadi modaliti tambahan dalam perkhidmatan kaunseling kanak-kanak dan keluarga di Malaysia. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication Cabaran Perunding Cara Terhadap Klien Berbangsa Asing Di Penjara(2015) ;Nur Hidayah RedzwanKu Suhaila Ku JohariKaunseling adalah salah satu program pemulihan yang disediakan kepada banduan yang disabitkan atas kesalahan dadah di penjara. Antara cabaran yang besar kepada perunding cara dalam menjalankan perkhidmatan kaunseling adalah komunikasi dalam sesi dan aktiviti bimbingan dengan banduan bangsa asing atas kesalahan dadah. Banduan warga asing tidak dikecualikan untuk terlibat dalam rawatan pemulihan. Namun, bahasa adalah halangan utama antara perunding cara dengan klien yang mana sekaligus memberi kesan terhadap keberkesanan sesi kaunseling dan hubungan menolong. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk meneroka cabaran komunikasi dan strategi daya tindak dalam kaunseling banduan warga asing. Kajian ini juga turut menjelaskan tentang layanan yang diberikan kepada banduan warga asing, pandangan perunding cara terhadap sikap mereka di penjara, dan aktiviti yang dilakukan oleh banduan warga asing sepanjang tempoh hukuman. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menemu bual pegawai penjara dan perunding cara yang menguruskan banduan bangsa asing di Institusi Pemulihan Dadah Jelebu (IPDJ) iaitu dikenali sebagai penjara yang menempatkan pesalah-pesalah dadah. Hasil kajian mendapati pelbagai cara telah dilakukan untuk mengatasi cabaran menjalankan sesi kaunseling dengan banduan warga asing di IPDJ antaranya ialah melantik perantara sebagai penterjemah, menggunakan isyarat tangan atau bahasa badan untuk menjelaskan sesuatu perkara kepada mereka dan melatih banduan menggunakan bahasa melayu pada keadaan tertentu. Kajian ini mencadangkan untuk pengkaji akan datang mengkaji persepsi banduan bangsa asing ini terhadap program-program pemulihan yang disediakan oleh pihak penjara dan sejauh mana keinginan mereka untuk terlibat dengan aktiviti-aktiviti tersebut. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication Discovering The Experience Of Recovering Clients Undergoing The 7 Steps Recovery In Addiction Program (7-sra) As An Aftercare Treatment(Centro de Investigaciones en Ciencias Sociales y Humanidades desde America Latina, 2019) ;Mohamad Isa Amat ;Haslinda Mat Jais ;Ku Suhaila Ku Johari ;Saf utra Pamidi ;Nurfarhah Mohd NajibMuhammad Khairi MahyuddinThe high number of drug addiction and relapse rate cases among Muslim clients in Malaysia has been always imposing apprehension upon Malaysians. This underpins the fact that there are rooms for more treatment options from different dimensions to be developed as the complementary action to the existing ones. Recognizing the etiological factor of addiction is also epitomized from individual spirituality, the 7-Steps Recovery in Addiction (7-SRA) was initiated based on Islamic teaching to further addressing this issue through the self-purification and repentance (tazkiyyat al-nafs). An in depth qualitative case study research was conducted to discover the experiences of 8 recovering clients as the participants in an aftercare center to discover their experience undergone the 7 Step in Recovery in Addiction Module. The data was triangulated by using in-depth interviews, observation notes and document analyses. The findings revealed that there were two emerging themes from informants’ shared experiences (pre and post intervention) which were spiritual and behavioral dimensions. 7-SRA was reported to be helpful approach for the participants in recovery process; thus 7-SRA is relevant to be employed as an evident-based practice (EBP) in drug addiction problem in particular as an aftercare treatment. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication Effects Of Using Expressive Arts Therapy In Group Counseling On Managing Delinquent Adolescents' Anger(Human Resource Management Academic Research Society, 2018) ;Nor Hamizah Ab Razak ;Sabihah Johan ;Ku Suhaila Ku Johari ;Sh Marzety Adibah Al Sayed MohamadNadziroh Md ZubirExpressive arts theraphy is a multimodal therapy of art that is practiced as an individual psychological recovery process. The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of expressive art therapy in group counseling on delinquent adolescents’ anger. Quasi-experimental designed with pre and post test methods are used in this study. A total of 84 delinquent adolescents living in moral rehabilitation institutions, aged 14 to 21 years old were selected using purposeful sampling. Clinical Anger Scale (CAS) is used to measure the dependent variable and supported by the analysis of documents. The results showed that there was a significant reduction in adolescents’ anger. Research implications are discussed from theoretical aspects, counselling professionals, other researchers and Social Welfare Department. In short, Expressive Arts Therapy has been an alternative to expressing latent feelings and an effective communication medium. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Discussions in this work are focused on Cognitive-Behavioral Play Therapy (CBPT) which is emphasizes on childrens’ development. CBPT is a structural and directive efforts that focuses on children’s experience. CBPT developments are results of adaptation and evolution of Cognitive Theory which initially has been developed for adults, and adapted accordingly to children’s needs. A lot of challenging issues has been giving negative impact to children’s psychological and mental health. Thus, this group deserves a suitable treatment that matches their development. CBPT has been identified as a suitable intervention in treating psychological issues involving children. Publication Intervensi Terapi Sandtray Dalam Kaunseling Terhadap Pasangan Penagih Dadah(2015) ;Nor Azwa Farhana AbdullahKu Suhaila Ku JohariGejala penagihan dadah kian berleluasa masa kini dan bukan sahaja memberi kesan buruk terhadap diri penagih terbabit malah turut memberi impak negatif terhadap keluarga mereka. Sesi kaunseling dengan pendekatan terapi Sandtray telah dijalankan untuk isteri penagih dadah bagi meneroka emosi, kognitif dan tingkah laku. Penerokaan sesi adalah melalui komunikasi lisan dan bukan lisan. Tema-tema adalah berdasarkan komunikasi lisan dan gambar digunakan untuk menunjukkan komunikasi bukan lisan yang berlangsung. Hasil kajian mendapati, intervensi ini dapat membantu dan memberi sokongan terhadap ahli keluarga mangsa penagihan dadah dalam institusi kekeluargaan. Hasil kajian mendapati bahawa permasalahan penagihan dadah memberi kesan terhadap emosi, kognitif dan tingah laku isteri penagih dadah. In Malaysia, the role of school counselors correlates in filling the needs of developed countries by 2020 to develop a human capital with a strong identity and are noble, knowledgeable, and highly skilled. To perform these roles, school counselors need to constantly improve their knowledge, skills, and competencies to meet the demands and needs related to the wellbeing of students holistically. These include the students’ emotional, mental, and behavioral health, which in turn contribute to academic excellence. This study aimed to explore the challenges of Malaysian school counselors in their job descriptions, job satisfaction, and competency. This was a qualitative study that used semi-structured interviews conducted with five school counselors. The results provided valuable information about the practice of counseling in a school setting in Malaysia. Results showed that conflict existed within the job scope and role of school counselors, job satisfaction, and competency of school counselors. This study supported the notion that the counseling service in primary schools should be given attention by the responsible authorities in order to enhance the quality of the profession. However, these groups tend to have issues related to social and emotional issues. Decision making skills and resilience are necessary elements in helping these groups deal with the social and emotional issues faced effectively. This study aims to produce a structured module based on Cognitive Behavior Play Therapy by making the Sidek’s Module Development Model as a guide in its development process. The contents of the module are based on critical and analytical literature review. The draft module consists of six sub modules: Movement Therapy, Art Therapy, Clay Therapy, Sand Therapy, Music Therapy and Puppet Therapy. The sub module is broken down into 14 activities and six units. It is proposed that further studies to be conducted to see the validity and reliability of this module. In Filial therapy module trainings, parents will learn the techniques and skills of Play Therapy in non-directive way applicable in play sessions for 30 minutes. The goal of Filial therapy is to enhance parent to child relationship. The process to establish the relationship is the result of the interaction and the application of the learnt skills. In short, Filial therapy is an approach whereby parents carry out therapeutic play sessions with their respective child. Parents will apply the skills in the playing sessions with their child in a nondirective way under the guidance of a counselor or a therapist. This paper will therefore, specifically discuss filial therapy approach which has been applied in the traditional and intensive way. In addition, this study also examines the effects of Filial therapy application across various cultures. Transition shows that an individual has a good and smooth development process. As part of this adaptation, there are a few standard six students who have concerns about some issues such as bullying and anxiety. Ability to develop new relationship with peers help them to cope this transition. This study aims to explore their narrative of mental readiness to face the transition in education among primary students to secondary school. This study employed a qualitative research design with triangulating interview, discussion, and observation methods. There were four themes in this study, 1) to explore the role of the family on students, 2) to understand students' expectations of the transition process, 3) to recognize the level of students' knowledge about the types of secondary schools and finally, to investigate students' skills in building sentences and making simple sentences. The discussion made can make the respondents more prepared and have the goal of entering a school with high grades.
