However, the major issue arises on how to dispose of the plastic bags. Plastic bags contain chemicals originating from petroleum distillation products. Upon burning or burying those plastic bags, toxic chemical reactions can pose harms to the living things and the environment. Additionally, plastics need approximately around 500 years to completely decompose. Therefore, we introduce Banastic-lizer as a green plastic as the solution to these problems. This project enables the fabrication of the eco-friendly plastic material from banana peels which is biodegradable in nature and reduce the harmful effects of material decomposition to the Earth. In fact, the banana peels have antioxidant properties, fibrous structures and essential nutrients. As the results, the Banastic-lizer is safe for the application by consumers without giving any harmful side effects. Plus, it can be used as a fertilizer due to the high content of nutrients. This eco-friendly plastic has a chance to be commercialized due to its affordable cost. As a conclusion, the conservation of the environment can be achieved if we continue using the green and environmentally friendly products. With this project, we hope that it could be a kick-start towards the efforts of saving the Earth in the coming future.29 101 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Publication The Concept of Transformation on Pandan Mat Weaving Art(Kolej Genius Insan, USIM, 2022-11-29) ;Norazlina Subani ;Umi Huda Mohd AbdullahFaezah Baridah ZulfikriDesigning the Kelarai pattern is not easy and it is requires mathematical skills to ensure a consistent design. Three key skills are required to produce the Kelarai design which are creatively to shape the pattern, ability to calculate the weave angle and arrange the colours, and efficiency in weaving to ensure that weave overlays are done consistently. In Mathematics, rotation, reflection, and enlargement are types of transformation concept to make some changes in any given geometric shape. In this research, the concept of transformation on pandan mat weaving art at Kolej GENIUS Insan was analysed. The main objective is to determine the pattern of Kelarai Kepala Gajah between the combined transformation Z, followed by Y, X and W that also can be written as transformation WXYZ. Under the combined transformation, Z is defined as an anticlockwise rotation of 90° about the center origin. After rotation, the image formed was reflected using Y and X transformation, which are reflection on line x = 0 and on line y = x, respectively. The transformation W described the final image of Kelarai Kepala Gajah pattern, where the concept of enlargement with scale factor 2 at center of (7, -7) was applied. However, the enlargement with scale factor 2 at center (7, 7) in a single transformation shows the same results as the final image under combined transformation WXYZ. The uniqueness of Kelarai Kepala Gajah pattern can be shown when the final image remains the same for both combined and single transformation were applied.15 221 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Publication Effect of seaweed on water treatment for mud crab fattening in the recirculating condo system(Kolej Genius Insan, USIM, 2022-11-29) ;Sukree Hajisamae ;Peerapat MadyusohHanis MutichunManagement of water quality is the most important limiting factor for the mud crab (Scylla paramamosain) fattening process in recirculating condo system (RCS). The effluent especially ammonia circulating in the system affects the survival and growth of the crabs. The purpose of this study was to assess the efficiency of different types of seaweeds in reducing ammonia concentration in the RCS. Two experiments were conducted; (1) a preliminary study in the experiment tank without crabs and (2) in the RCS system with crabs fed regularly with fresh fish. Four species of seaweed were used in the experiment 1 for 5 days, namely, Gracilaria fisheri, Chaetomorpha linum, Ulva rigida, and Caulerpa lentillifera. Result showed different filtering rates of ammonia between these five seaweed species (P<0.01) and indicated that G. fisheri and C. linum were the most efficient seaweeds in removing ammonia in water. In the experiment 2, these two seaweed species were used in the RCS system together with control. It was again confirmed that seaweeds can effectively remove ammonia from the RCS system (P<0.05) and G. fisheri was the most efficient compared to C. linum. Apart from that other water parameters indicated that using seaweeds in the RCS system can improve water quality by resulting in higher dissolved oxygen value and lower pH value. Therefore, it is suggested that using seaweeds, especially G. fisheri is essential to remove ammonia in water and help the healthy status of the system leading to healthy crab production and reducing toxic to nature. Additionally, it is observed that apart from reducing ammonia, C. linum also helps in trapping sediment in the RCS, thus a combination of using both seaweed species is recommended.15 46 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication Effects of cinnamon oil on brain function(Kolej Genius Insan, USIM, 2022-11-29) ;Fitdao Yueran ;Wan-aymee Saehdeng ;Suparada SurapanthanakornRodiya ManorCinnamon is a traditional herb that is widely used in health care and traditional medicine. Moreover, it was claimed to reduce stress. However, brain function research of this oil is still in its early phases. Therefore, the effects of cinnamon oil on brain activity were the focus of this study. In this study, ten participants were included. EEG and ECG were recorded during distilled water, lavender oil, and cinnamon oil inhalation. Each inhalation was followed by 3 minutes of open eyes and 3 minutes of closed eyes, respectively. At the end of the experiment, participants had to fill out a satisfaction questionnaire about the scents of each essential oil. In addition, GC-MS was used to analyze essential oil compositions. The main component of cinnamon oil is cinnamaldehyde, while that of lavender oil is linalyl acetate. The result of brain activities showed that beta frequency significantly decreased during cinnamon oil inhalation with eyes closed. Furthermore, both lavender oil and cinnamon oil inhalation tend to increase when compared with the distilled water inhalation group. Moreover, ECG can be linked to heart rate variability (HRV), and the results did not show a significant difference between groups. Overall satisfaction revealed that participants liked the scent of lavender more than cinnamon oil. According to this finding, cinnamon oil reduced beta frequency but did not affect on HRV. Therefore, cinnamon oil may produce an anxiolytic effect on brain function due to the decrease of beta wave.353 11 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
