Publication A Review of the Use of Analogy in Tafsir Al-Azhar Through Surah Al-Fatihah(Penerbit USIM, 2025) ;Syed Mohamad Zainudin Bichk Koyak; Ahmad Salahuddin M AzizanAnalogy is a vital tool in pedagogy and hermeneutics, enabling abstract concepts to be communicated through familiar images. In Qur’anic exegesis, HAMKA’s Tafsir al-Azhar is distinctive for its consistent use of analogical reasoning, particularly in Surah al-Fatihah. The main problem this study addresses is how to bridge the gap between the Qur’an’s profound theological teachings—such as divine mercy (rahmah), servitude (‘ubudiyyah), and divine displeasure (ghadab)—and the comprehension of a modern Malay-Nusantara audience. Using a qualitative, descriptive-analytical approach, the study identifies and interprets analogies in HAMKA’s tafsir, following the manhaj tahlili (verse-by-verse method) and al-adabi al-ijtima‘i (literary-social) style. Six analogies were highlighted: electricity and water, showing neglect of blessings until loss; a mother hen and her chicks, symbolizing sacrificial compassion; a pair of birds, representing shared responsibility; HAMKA’s account of his father’s affection for a cat, underscoring mercy in domestic life; misplaced gratitude in Iyyaka na‘budu wa iyyaka nasta‘in, warning against associating others with God; and the royal court suicide tale, dramatizing the severity of divine wrath. The findings show that HAMKA’s analogies are deliberate hermeneutical and pedagogical devices, making scripture both accessible and relevant. Publication A Semantic-Ethical Quranic Framework for Water Stewardship: From Revelation to ResponsibilityWater scarcity and pollution are among the most pressing ethical and ecological challenges of our time. This study re-examines the Qur’an not only as a theological text but as a civilisational grammar, where al-mā’ (water) functions as a semantic, ethical, and epistemological signifier. Employing a triangulated methodology that bridges semantic field analysis, classical and contemporary tafsīr, Islamic legal thought, and scientific inquiry, this research constructs a polarity-conscious interpretive framework for al-māʾ within diverse Qur’anic genres. By bridging linguistic nuance with ethical application, it contributes to Qur’anic hermeneutics and sustainability discourse by offering a genre-sensitive model for ecological ethics, curriculum design, and policy engagement. Based on semantic analysis, 60 verses explicitly referencing water on earth, analysed through classical and contemporary tafsīr, and modern environmental discourse. Findings reveal water as a symbol of divine mercy, purification, justice, and trial, mapped across Meccan and Medinan suwar to trace its ethical evolution from metaphysical reflection to communal responsibility. It introduces a diachronic semantic- polarity mapping of al-māʾ across Qur’anic genres, offering a novel framework that bridges classical tafsīr with contemporary ecological ethics in providing actionable insights for faith-based environmental policy and educational curriculum development. This Qur’anic discourse is then recontextualised within sustainability paradigms, particularly SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), to highlight its relevance to global water governance. The study contributes to Islamic environmental ethics by proposing a faith-informed framework for water stewardship. Publication Al-Quran dan Kepimpinan Islam: Integrasi Nilai Kenabian dalam Merealisasikan Visi Madani(Penerbit USIM, 2025) ;Khairul Hamimah Mohammad JodiAbang Azlan Abang AhmadAl-Quran sebagai wahyu ilahi membentuk asas kepada kepimpinan Islam yang berperanan penting dalam struktur sosial dan politik masyarakat Muslim. Artikel ini menampilkan sorotan literatur sistematik bertujuan untuk mengenal pasti bagaimana prinsip al-Quran membentuk corak, nilai dan amalan kepimpinan Islam dalam konteks moden. Kajian berpandukan strategi pencarian lanjutan melalui pangkalan data ProQuest melibatkan 216 rekod, dengan 47 kajian dipilih berdasarkan kesesuaian tema dan kriteria ilmiah. Analisis tematik menghasilkan tiga tema utama: pertama, kepimpinan Muslim dan dinamika tadbir urus, kedua, kepimpinan politik Islam dalam konflik dan penentangan, serta ketiga, kepimpinan kenabian sebagai kerangka keadilan global. Dapatan menunjukkan keberkesanan kepimpinan Islam bergantung kepada integrasi nilai-nilai al-Quran seperti amanah, keadilan, syura, dan rahmah dalam pengurusan institusi dan strategi politik. Nilai kepimpinan kenabian yang berpaksikan al-Quran seperti belas kasihan, keadilan sosial, ketelusan dan penghormatan terhadap minoriti berperanan membentuk pendekatan inklusif dan lestari yang selaras dengan Matlamat Pembangunan Lestari (SDG) khususnya SDG 16. Artikel ini menegaskan bahawa dimensi kenabian, tadbir urus dan politik kontemporari sering dikaji secara terpisah sedangkan al-Quran menyatukan ketiga-tiganya dalam satu kerangka holistik. Justeru, kajian ini menghubungkan ketiga-tiga dimensi tersebut berpandukan nilai-nilai al-Quran untuk merealisasikan Visi Madani yang menekankan keamanan sejagat, keadilan sosial dan pembangunan mampan. Publication Al-Quran Sebagai Sumber Nilai dan Hukum: Respons Terhadap Cabaran Sosio-Politik Semasa(Penerbit USIM, 2025)Hadi AmroniDalam menghadapi perubahan sosial dan politik global yang kian kompleks, umat Islam berdepan dengan cabaran besar untuk mengembalikan peranan al-Quran sebagai sumber nilai dan hukum yang mampu memberikan panduan holistik terhadap permasalahan semasa. Dunia moden yang dicirikan oleh krisis moral, ketidakadilan sosial, ekstremisme politik, serta dominasi materialisme telah menuntut suatu paradigma penyelesaian yang berpaksikan nilai-nilai transenden. Dalam konteks ini, al-Quran tampil bukan hanya sebagai teks keagamaan, tetapi juga sebagai sumber normatif dan etika yang membentuk asas keadilan sosial, kemanusiaan, dan keseimbangan kuasa dalam masyarakat. Sebagai sumber nilai, al-Quran menegaskan prinsip-prinsip universal seperti keadilan (‘adl), rahmah (kasih sayang), amanah, dan syura (musyawarah) yang menjadi dasar kepada pembinaan masyarakat berperadaban dan berkeadilan. Nilai-nilai ini tidak bersifat statik, tetapi dinamis serta mampu disesuaikan dengan konteks perubahan zaman. Manakala sebagai sumber hukum, al-Quran menyediakan asas normatif yang berpaksikan , Maqasid al-Shariah bagi membimbing proses penetapan hukum yang selaras dengan tujuan-tujuan kemanusiaan – iaitu pemeliharaan agama, jiwa, akal, keturunan, dan harta. Pendekatan maqasidi ini memungkinkan hukum Islam diterapkan secara kontekstual untuk menjawab pelbagai cabaran sosio-politik kontemporari, termasuk isu keadilan distributif, tata kelola pemerintahan, dan tanggungjawab moral pemimpin. Publication Analisis Kritis Qawlan Sadida dan Implikasinya Terhadap Keadilan Sosial(Penerbit USIM, 2025) ;Siti Fazidatul Zahariah Mat Saleh ;Sakinah Abdul Mokti ;Aida Hartini Nan ;Sharifah Nurulhuda S Ab LatifSaadiah MohdKajian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis konsep qawlan sadīdā melalui pendekatan munāsabah antara dua ayat yang relevan dalam al-Quran, iaitu surah al-Nisa’ (4:9) dan surah al-Aḥzāb (33:70), dengan objektif membangunkan satu kerangka keadilan sosial yang holistik dan praktikal terhadap cabaran komunikasi serta tadbir urus masa kini. Melalui pendekatan munāsabah, kajian ini mengenal pasti korelasi tematik, kontekstual, dan struktural antara kedua-dua ayat tersebut untuk menggambarkan bagaimana komunikasi yang bertanggungjawab dalam al-Quran boleh dijadikan asas kepada teori keadilan sosial yang relevan dalam konteks kontemporari. Metodologi yang digunakan ialah analisis deskriptif-analitik secara tekstual dan kontekstual, disokong oleh kajian tafsir dan semantik yang relevan untuk memahami makna dan konteks ayat dalam al-Quran. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahawa qawlan sadīdā tidak hanya merujuk kepada ucapan yang benar dan adil, tetapi juga mencerminkan satu model komunikasi yang mengintegrasikan dimensi vertikal dan horizontal. Dengan merujuk kepada tafsiran para ulama klasik dan kontemporari, kajian ini mengungkapkan bahawa qawlan sadīdā bukan sahaja berbicara tentang prinsip ucapan yang benar, tetapi menunjukkan komunikasi yang bertanggungjawab, adil, dan tepat adalah asas kepada pembentukan masyarakat yang beretika dan adil. Publication Analisis Kritis Terhadap Metodologi Pengajaran Tarannum Al-Quran di MalaysiaKelas pengajian tarannum al-Quran di Malaysia yang dikendalikan oleh tokoh-tokoh terkemuka dalam bidang ini menunjukkan peningkatan ketara sejajar dengan pertumbuhan minat masyarakat terhadap seni bacaan al-Quran. Sehubungan itu, kajian ini dijalankan bagi menganalisis kaedah pengajaran tarannum al-Quran yang digunakan oleh beberapa tokoh tarannum di Malaysia dengan tujuan mengenal pasti kaedah pengajaran yang menjadi asas bersama dalam pengajaran mereka. Kajian ini menggunakan pendekatan analisis teks terhadap kajian-kajian lepas yang meneliti metodologi pengajaran tokoh-tokoh tersebut. Hasil analisis menunjukkan wujud persamaan dan perbezaan dalam pendekatan pengajaran antara tokoh, namun secara keseluruhannya dapat dirumuskan tujuh elemen utama dalam pengajaran tarannum al-Quran iaitu; (1) motivasi sebelum memulakan bacaan; (2) pengenalan teori suara dan tarannum; (3) pengurusan vokal dalam bacaan al-Quran; (4) seni dalam penyampaian tarannum; (5) pengulangan bacaan; (6) penilaian guru; (7) penggunaan teknologi. Kajian ini menyumbang kepada pengukuhan pemahaman terhadap pendekatan pedagogi tarannum al-Quran yang diamalkan oleh tokoh-tokoh ilmu tarannum di Malaysia, di samping menyediakan asas kukuh bagi pembangunan model pengajaran tarannum bersepadu yang lebih sistematik, komprehensif dan relevan dengan keperluan semasa pendidikan al-Quran.6 2 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication Analisis Pengetahuan dan Amalan Tadabbur Al-Quran dalam Kalangan Guru Tahfiz di Negeri Perak(Penerbit USIM, 2025) ;Sakinah Binti Abdul Mokti ;Siti Arbaiyah Binti Mohd Saroni ;Mohd Fuad Bin Mokhta ;Nur Ahmad Wafiy Bin Noor Azri ;Siti Nurleha Binti SafieNoorHaslinda Binti Zainal AbidinKajian ini meneliti tahap pengetahuan dan pengamalan guru tahfiz terhadap tadabbur al-Quran, suatu aspek penting yang sering diabaikan dalam pendidikan tahfiz. Isu yang menjadi latar belakang kajian ini ialah kurangnya kefahaman pelajar terhadap makna dan mesej ayat-ayat hafazan. Oleh itu, kajian ini memberi fokus untuk menilai sejauh mana guru tahfiz memahami konsep tadabbur serta mengamalkannya dalam proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran. Kajian ini merupakan kajian kuantitatif yang menggunakan reka bentuk tinjauan dengan instrumen soal selidik sebagai alat pengumpulan data. Analisis statistik deskriptif digunakan bagi menentukan tahap pengetahuan dan pengamalan, manakala ujian-t bebas dan ANOVA sehala diaplikasikan untuk mengenal pasti perbezaan berdasarkan pemboleh ubah demografi tertentu. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa tahap pengetahuan guru tahfiz terhadap tadabbur berada pada aras yang sangat tinggi, manakala tahap pengamalan mereka berada pada aras tinggi. Ujian-t bebas mendapati tiada perbezaan signifikan antara pengetahuan dan pengamalan guru tahfiz yang berkhidmat di sekolah kerajaan dan swasta. Walau bagaimanapun, analisis ANOVA menunjukkan wujud perbezaan signifikan dalam tahap pengetahuan guru tahfiz berdasarkan kelulusan pendidikan, tetapi tiada perbezaan signifikan dalam aspek pengamalan mengikut tahap pendidikan tersebut. Kajian ini menegaskan kepentingan meningkatkan kefahaman dan pengamalan tadabbur dalam kalangan guru tahfiz sebagai asas kepada pembentukan pelajar yang bukan sahaja mahir dalam hafazan, tetapi juga mampu menghayati mesej al-Quran secara mendalam. Publication Analisis Semantik Sifat-Sifat Yang Merujuk kepada Perempuan dalam Al-QuranAl-Quran merupakan kitab panduan yang ditujukan kepada sekalian manusia termasuklah lelaki dan perempuan tanpa mengira perbezaan jantina. Walaupun wujud pelbagai stigma terhadap kaum perempuan pada zaman awal penurunan wahyu, malah sehingga kini, tetapi kedudukan perempuan dipelihara melalui kandungan al-Quran yang sarat dengan keadilan serta pengiktirafan terhadap peranan mereka dalam masyarakat. Justeru, kajian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis sifat-sifat yang merujuk kepada perempuan dalam al-Quran melalui pendekatan semantik. Analisis ini memberi tumpuan kepada makna leksikal, makna kontekstual, serta implikasi semantik bagi penggunaannya dalam ayat-ayat al-Quran. Kaedah kajian kualitatif digunakan dengan mengaplikasikan analisis kandungan terhadap teks al-Quran, yang mana semua sifat-sifat yang berkaitan dengan perempuan dikenal pasti berdasarkan bentuk morfologi dan konteks ayat. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa al-Quran mengandungi pelbagai sifat yang bukan sahaja menggambarkan ciri luaran atau peranan sosial bagi kaum perempuan, tetapi juga menekankan nilai rohani, moral, dan akhlak yang wajar dijadikan landasan hidup. Penemuan ini menunjukkan bahawa pemilihan sifat yang digambarkan dalam al-Quran mempunyai nuansa makna yang mendalam dan berfungsi sebagai panduan serta pembentukan identiti perempuan beragama Islam. Publication Bait Al-Nahwi: Aplikasi Tatabahasa Arab Berasaskan Regulasi Kendiri dalam Konteks Pendidikan Al-Quran dan Revolusi Industri 4.0(Penerbit USIM, 2025) ;Muhamad Fairuz AliKamarul Shukri Mat TehBahasa Arab merupakan wahana utama dalam memahami al-Quran, Sunnah dan khazanah ilmu Islam. Namun, dalam konteks pembelajaran bahasa kedua di Malaysia, khususnya di peringkat diploma, penguasaan tatabahasa Arab asas masih menjadi cabaran besar kepada pelajar. Kajian terdahulu menunjukkan kelemahan utama pelajar adalah dalam aspek sintaksis dan morfologi akibat kaedah pengajaran tradisional yang berpusatkan pensyarah. Seiring dengan tuntutan Revolusi Industri Keempat (IR4.0) dan kebangkitan Kecerdasan Buatan (AI), integrasi teknologi digital dalam pendidikan bahasa al-Quran ini dilihat sebagai alternatif yang berkesan. Justeru, artikel ini membincangkan proses reka bentuk dan pembangunan aplikasi pembelajaran tatabahasa Arab asas yang dinamakan Bait al-Nahwi, berasaskan pendekatan Regulasi Kendiri (Self-Regulated Learning, SRL) dan strategi metafizik dengan pengesahan pakar menggunakan kaedah Fuzzy Delphi. Kajian ini menggunakan pendekatan Reka Bentuk dan Pembangunan (Design and Development Research, DDR) dalam tiga fasa, namun artikel ini memberi fokus kepada fasa kedua iaitu reka bentuk dan pembangunan aplikasi. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan aplikasi yang dibangunkan merangkumi elemen utama seperti objektif pembelajaran, kandungan interaktif, integrasi teknologi pintar serta penilaian kendiri. Pengesahan pakar dalam bidang bahasa Arab, teknologi dan pendidikan menunjukkan tahap kesepakatan yang tinggi, sekali gus mengukuhkan keabsahan pembangunan aplikasi ini. Publication Beyond Material Progress: Reassessing Human Development Through Maqasid Al-QuranThis article explores human development as a holistic process grounded in the Quran’s maqasid (higher objectives), moving beyond modern approaches that often centre narrowly on material and economic indicators. While development thinking shifted in the late twentieth century to focus more directly on human welfare emphasizing education, fair distribution, and protection of rights such frameworks emerged late and struggled to prevent rising poverty, unemployment, and inequality. In contrast, this study describes the Islamic perspective as reflected in the Quran, which integrates the spiritual, ethical, and social dimensions of development, and deduces how these maqasid lay the foundation for a balanced model of human flourishing. Drawing on classical and contemporary scholarship, this article outlines core objectives such as refining character, protecting human dignity and life, promoting knowledge and freedom, ensuring justice, and affirming humanity’s role as khulafaʾ (vicegerents) on earth. The article concludes that the Quranic maqasid offer a comprehensive, ethically anchored framework for human development that remains profoundly relevant today, emphasizing that genuine progress must harmonize spiritual purpose, moral integrity, and collective responsibility to achieve sustainable human well-being.3 4 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication Bridging Quranic Teachings and Mental Health Practices: A Holistic Framework for Employee Well-Being and Organizational Commitment(Penerbit USIM, 2025) ;Siti Farhana HasanudinNik Azlina Nik AbdullahThis conceptual paper explores the intersection of Islamic teachings, particularly those in the Al-Quran, and the mental well-being of employees in contemporary organizational settings. With rising concerns about workplace stress, burnout, and overall employee well-being, the paper aims to examine how Quranic principles can offer guidance in promoting mental health in the workplace. It investigates how concepts such as patience (Sabr), gratitude (Shukr), trust in Allah (Tawakkul), and seeking balance (Mizan) can be integrated into organizational practices to foster a healthier work environment. Through an analysis of relevant Quranic verses and Hadiths, the paper explores the spiritual and psychological benefits of adhering to these principles. This conceptual paper proposes that integrating spiritual well-being with mental health practices within the workplace can contribute to enhanced employee outcomes. By fostering an environment where employees’ spiritual needs are acknowledged alongside their mental health, organizations may not only see an improvement in employee satisfaction but also a boost in productivity, morale, and organizational commitment.2 2 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication Challenges and Motivational Factors of Kafa Teachers in Quranic Teaching for Students with Visual ImpairmentsTeaching students with visual impairments (SwVI) presents distinctive challenges, particularly for Quranic teachers in Kelas al-Quran dan Fardu Ain (KAFA) primary schools. This study investigates the obstacles faced by KAFA teachers in instructing visually impaired learners, as well as the motivational factors that sustain their commitment. Employing a qualitative design through interviews with ten KAFA teachers, the study identifies major challenges, including limited specialized training, insufficient institutional support, and difficulties in adapting Quranic teaching methods to non-visual learning needs. Nevertheless, intrinsic motivation, spiritual fulfilment, and supportive institutions are found to be significant drivers of teacher dedication. The findings highlight the importance of enhancing teacher training, strengthening community awareness, and providing sufficient resources to promote a more inclusive and effective Quranic learning environment for SwVI in KAFA schools.4 4 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication Daging Kultur dan Tanggungjawab Etika Muslim: Refleksi Berdasarkan Panduan Al-Quran(Penerbit USIM, 2025)Noor Munirah IsaDalam konteks kebimbangan global terhadap perubahan iklim, pengurangan sumber semula jadi, dan risiko kesihatan awam, daging kultur berpotensi sebagai sumber protein alternatif yang lestari. Namun, penyelesaian berasaskan teknologi ini membangkitkan persoalan tentang bagaimana prinsip Islam dapat dijadikan panduan dalam membuat pertimbangan etika terhadap pengambilan daging dalam era teknologi makanan baharu. Kajian ini meneroka bagaimana lima tanggungjawab etika Muslim yang digariskan dalam al-Quran dapat dijadikan panduan dalam membuat pertimbangan terhadap pengambilan daging, khususnya dalam konteks cadangan teknologi makanan baharu seperti daging kultur. Lima tanggungjawab tersebut ialah: (1) memilih makanan yang halal dan baik, (2) mengamalkan kesederhanaan dalam pemakanan (3) menjaga kebajikan haiwan, (4) mengelakkan kemudaratan, dan (5) memelihara alam sekitar. Walaupun berpotensi mendatangkan kebaikan, penghasilan daging kultur belum dapat sepenuhnya dikatakan selari dengan tanggungjawab etika yang digariskan oleh Islam. Kajian lanjut diperlukan untuk menilai kesannya terhadap kesihatan manusia dan alam sekitar. Dalam menghadapi isu kelestarian makanan, pendekatan yang lebih seimbang diperlukan. Publication Does the Moon Shine or Reflect? A Qur’anic and Scientific Exploration of Lunar LightThis study investigates the nature of moonlight by combining analysis of the Qur’an, the Sunnah, and contemporary scientific perspectives. Previous scholarship has rarely acknowledged Qur’anic allusions to natural phenomena later verified by science. Most studies have contrasted Qur’anic descriptions with established scientific theories or dismissed them as allegorical—especially regarding the origin of moonlight. Critics, in the past, have argued that the Qur’an’s reference to the moon as a luminous body conflicts with the scientific claim that moonlight is only reflected sunlight. This has generated ongoing debate over the compatibility of revelation and empirical inquiry. Recent scientific findings, however, show that the moon, besides reflecting visible light, emits thermal infrared radiation—an invisible form of illumination that humans cannot see but which advanced instruments can detect. This research builds on that observation, arguing that phenomena unseen by ordinary vision may still belong, in principle, to the broader spectrum of the visible and may be perceptible with alternative methods of detection. The study uses qualitative analysis of Qur’anic terminology and scientific data on electromagnetic radiation. It suggests that the moon’s illumination may involve simul taneous reflection and emission of unseen light. These findings affirm the Qur’anic description of the moonas a source of nūr (light), which is distinct from the sun’s ḍiyāʾ (radiant light). This demonstrates harmonybetween revealed knowledge and empirical observation. Globally, AR and VR have been applied in diverse fields, including architecture, sustainability education, and cultural heritage preservation. However, in Malaysia, the integration of these technologies into higher education remains limited, particularly in community-based learning environments that emphasise sustainability and Shariah-compliant values. Current studies tend to focus on technical adoption or user experience, with insufficient attention given to aligning immersive learning with the principles of Maqasid Shariah and the integration of ‘Aqli (rational) and Naqli (revealed) knowledge. This review paper explores global and local literature on AR and VR in education, identifying gaps and opportunities for application within the context of Shariah-compliant Sustainable garden concepts. The methodological approach includes a scoping review of recent publications from Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar, synthesising key themes on immersive learning, community engagement, and Islamic education. Findings highlight AR and VR’s transformative role in advancing interactive and experiential learning, especially within STEM, cultural, and Islamic education. However, a research gap persists in their application to sustainable and environmental design. This study explores the impact of the Lilin Harum Lestari (LIME) innovation project at Sekolah Kebangsaan Permatang To’ Kandu. Rooted in the principles of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and guided by Quranic values, the project promotes environmental stewardship through the recycling of used cooking oil and leftover crayons to produce eco-friendly candles. These candles serve as both learning tools and school sale items, fostering a sense of purpose and inclusion among participants. The initiative draws inspiration from the Quranic verse, “And do not waste [resources], indeed He does not like the wasteful” (Surah Al-A'raf, 7:31), and the Hadith, “The earth is green and beautiful, and Allah has appointed you as His stewards over it” (Sahih Muslim). Using qualitative methods and classroom observation, the study involved 64 mainstream students and 7 students with special needs aged between 10 to 12 years old from the Program Pendidikan Khas Integrasi. These students presented diverse learning profiles, including cognitive, sensory, and behavioral challenges. Findings reveal that the LIME project significantly enhanced the students’ understanding of recycling through hands-on, sensory-rich experiences. It also increased motivation, supported inquiry-based learning, and encouraged peer mentoring within the science curriculum. Importantly, the project fostered social inclusion, self-confidence, and collaborative learning, which are the key elements in nurturing holistic development for students with special needs. Publication Enhancing Quran Memorization Through Quiz-Based Mobile Applications: A Comparative Analysis of Retain Quran and Cinta Quran(Penerbit USIM, 2025) ;Nurul I’zzah binti Yussof; ; process requires discipline, consistency, and effective tools to strengthen retention. This study aims to (1) analyze two selected Quran memorization quiz applications available on the Play Store or App Store, namely Retain Quran and Cinta Quran, (2) examine public reviews and user feedback on these applications and (3) provide insights for potential improvements and future research. The research employs a qualitative approach comprising three main techniques: (1) direct observation of selected applications to assess functionality, design, and effectiveness in enhancing memorization; (2) comparison of key features, such as quiz question variety and interactive elements; and (3) analysis of user reviews to gain insights from actual user experiences. Findings from this study highlight the potential of digital tools in modernizing traditional Quran memorization methods through quiz mobile application. This study concludes that quiz-based mobile applications are effective in enhancing Quran memorization. This paper explores the ethical use of AI from the Quranic perspective, focusing on how humans should responsibly engage with AI technology in a way that aligns with Islamic values. The study examines the ten core principles outlined by UNESCO for a human-rights-centred approach to AI ethics and seeks to find Quranic guidance that supports these principles. These include: (i) Proportionality and Do No Harm, (ii) Safety and Security, (iii) Right to Privacy and Data Protection, (iv) Multi-stakeholder and Adaptive Governance & Collaboration, (v) Responsibility and Accountability, (vi) Transparency and Explainability, (vii) Human Oversight and Determination, (viii) Sustainability, (ix) Awareness & Literacy, (x) Fairness and Non-Discrimination. The methodology for this study involves a review of previous literature on AI ethics, followed by a textual analysis of Quranic verses to identify ethical principles that align with the UNESCO’s principles. The paper demonstrates that the Quranic values such as justice, respect for privacy, accountability, and human dignity provide a solid foundation for an ethical approach to AI. By aligning these values with UNESCO’s principles, the paper offers insights into how AI can be used ethically in line with Quranic values to benefit humanity, ensuring it is developed and used with respect for rights, fairness, and social welfare.4 4
